It was my first book from Judith Mcnaught and I think it's her best next to "Perfect*. She writes witty, exciting and gripping. I couldn't put this book down.

It is a very exciting lovestory between Laureen Danner, a very talented secretary (she also has a diploma as a concert pianist) who comes from a poor but very warmhearted family and Nick Sinclair, president of Global Industries, who's coldhearted, widowed mother left him, when he was a little boy, in the care of his grandparents, to marry her rich exfiance. For Laureen it was love on first sight but for Nick she was like any other girl. He was afraid to feel love and before it got too far he left. This all because of his mother - as a little boy he worshipped the floor she was walking on -, a shallow woman who's creature comforts and living statues was much more important to her than her childs love. This all changed with Laureen, a proud and witty beauty with a rare spirit. But Laureen has a secret that could destroy Nicks love for her.

I can highly recommend this book to all readers who likes lovestorys with a happy ending.

I actually bought this book twice! That probably tells you quite a bit about how memorable it was! I really enjoy JMcN's books and very much looked forward to reading this one. Its not bad - its actually OK, its just not as good as her other books. Nick Sinclair is the business tycoon hero, Lauren Danner, the herione living a reluctant charade. It has some good moments but overall - its predictable. Usually, I read and re-read JMcN books, this one (both copies of it) are still in pristine condition. That tells you quite a bit. Sorry Judith ... but I do like your others.

I have been reading romance books for years, so when i say that this is one of my all time favorties i do not mean it lightly. Mcnaught has a way with words. i love her writing syle, she can make a charcter come alive and has the ability to tie up all angles of a situation. I hate reading books that leave a feeling of incompleteness.........i have never experienced that with one of Mcnaught's books . WELL WORTH READING!
