It was my first book from Judith Mcnaught and I think it's her best next to "Perfect*. She writes witty, exciting and gripping. I couldn't put this book down.
It is a very exciting lovestory between Laureen Danner, a very talented secretary (she also has a diploma as a concert pianist) who comes from a poor but very warmhearted family and Nick Sinclair, president of Global Industries, who's coldhearted, widowed mother left him, when he was a little boy, in the care of his grandparents, to marry her rich exfiance. For Laureen it was love on first sight but for Nick she was like any other girl. He was afraid to feel love and before it got too far he left. This all because of his mother - as a little boy he worshipped the floor she was walking on -, a shallow woman who's creature comforts and living statues was much more important to her than her childs love. This all changed with Laureen, a proud and witty beauty with a rare spirit. But Laureen has a secret that could destroy Nicks love for her.
I can highly recommend this book to all readers who likes lovestorys with a happy ending.
