Product Description

A step-by-step guide to enjoying the roller-coaster ride of growth -- while getting the most out of life as an entrepreneur. A growth-focused approach: The book is divided into three sections, which cover planning for fast growth, building a company for fast growth, and leading for fast growth. Each topic the author covers -- from creating a vision for the company's future to learning how to generate free PR for a developing company -- is squarely focused on the end goal: doubling the size of the entrepreneur's company in three years or less. A down-to-earth action plan: Herold's experienced-based advice never gets bogged down in generalities or theory. Instead, he offers a wealth of practical tips, including: How to design meetings for maximum efficiency; How to hire top-quality talent; How to grow in particularly tough markets; How to put together a board of advisors -- even for a smaller company; How even the busy entrepreneur can achieve a work/life balance.

Format:Hardcover
What can you learn from Cameron Herold, former COO of 1-800-GOT-JUNK? Well, you might pick up quite a bit, given that he increased its revenues from $2 million to $105 million in six years. Herold, now a business coach, says your enterprise can double its sales and profits in a three-year span. He provides specific tactical counsel, carefully explains his intriguing strategy for profitable growth at the rate of 25% a year, and offers clear precepts you can follow. Herold's overall strategy is useful; however, while he's quite likeable, he is not beyond a bit of ego or the occasional far-fetched notion. getAbstract recommends this ambitious, encouraging book to striving executives and entrepreneurs.

I first came across Cameron's amazing TED talk "Let's raise kids to be entrepreneurs" and something just clicked. Here was a highly successful fellow entrepreneur who not only told it like it is, but wanted to make such a huge contribution to all us up and coming entrepreneurial rookies. Double double continues along the same lines. Not just real and extremely valuable tips and insights from someone who's been there, done that and got the T shirt - but truly valuable lessons in what it actually feels like on the journey. As someone who's currently building an early-stage biotech the importance of having that real vision, building a great team and being laser focused speak volumes. But it's Cameron's own unique ability to share the emotional experiences and more importantly how to handle the "rollercoaster" ride, which makes this book an absolute MUST READ...

This is a great book with great practical advice. Its become a manual with bookmarks that I refer back to when needed. What makes this book stand out is unlike a lot of business books, it really gives you actionable steps you can take to grow your business, and is full of anecdotes to back the ideas up and bring them to life. It also is very relevant to modern day businesses and (possibly?) without realising, he explains a way to organise meetings that is very similar to Srum project management with WARs and Huddles. As many new businesses take on Scrum to manage their businesses (as Salesforce.com has done with fantastic results) you'll find this book doesn't contradict many of the key aspects of Scrum.

Overall, this will really help anyone who's thinking of starting a business, opening a new division, or taking their existing business to the next level.
