5.0 out of 5 stars Finally, the live experience on CD - a must-have 27 Jun 2002
By A Customer
If you've ever seen Nick Harper live, you must have this album. Even if you haven't, buy this - the studio albums are great, but this is the real deal. This shows why he is such a popular live performer - between his guitar playing, his songwriting, his singing and his humour, you can't miss. Even the string breaks are entertaining! A true genius.

5.0 out of 5 stars A total revelation 17 Jan 2003
By doublegone TOP 500 REVIEWER
One of the best things I have come across this year. Knew nothing about this guy except I had heard of his Dad.
Saw him live and was blown away.
Bought this CD and was amazed to find the live show perfectly captured.
What you get folks is gallons of great songwriting, tons of mindblowing guitar playing and a good slice of quirky humour.
Very English.
The new Nick Drake - only he's funny. Imagine that if you can!

5.0 out of 5 stars Addiction 18 Oct 2003
By A Customer
If you have never seen Nick live then you have missed out. If you get this CD you get the next best thing. Since I purchased it at a gig a year ago I don't think I have had more than a couple of weeks (and often days) without the compelling need to play it again. His lyrics, musicianship and humour are compelling, stirring, addictive. The energy, skill and determination (broken strings [an occasional by-product of the energy] are no barrier to the progression of a song..just restring whilst the lyrics continue and pick up the tune when done!) ..are expected by anyone who has seen him live, and well reflected here.
I find myself discovering depth, through layers of rhythm and intricacy even a year later.
Buy it and treat yourself to some real raw talent.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Real Deal 25 Oct 2005
By A Customer
Fans of Nick Harper have long struggled with the fact that his trademark acoustic guitar has not always come across well in a band setting on his studio albums. There's no such problem with this staggering set, which reveals Harper to be a surprisingly polished entertainer: switching from lighter songs to hard-rocking guitar workouts and blending between the two with tender and elegant ballads. Throughout, his vocals match the song perfectly ... nowhere more unexpectedly than in an electrifying cover of Public Enemy slipped into "Building Our Own Temple".
While the guitar technique is often prominent, it never becomes an aim in itself, and instead serves the purpose of creating one of the great unknown live albums. Anyone who ever played guitar will love this album. Fortunately you don't have to play guitar to join in the fun.
