Product Description

In Double Fault by Sheila Claydon, published by Books We Love, when Kerry Farrow falls for star player Pierce Simon, she doesn’t hesitate when he asks her to join him on the international tennis circuit. She doesn’t care that he isn’t ready to settle down. In her experience happy families are a myth anyway. Then she discovers she’s pregnant and her world falls apart. Unable to turn to Pierce for support, and disowned by her wealthy father, she is on her own.

Two years later Kerry is a single mother of twins. She works hard to keep a roof over their heads and is just about coping until Pierce comes back into her life. When he finds out the children are his, he gives her an ultimatum: either she can marry him or she can fight for her children through the courts.

What she can’t understand is why he wants to marry her. She’s lost her looks and her fortune, so why is he so determined to keep her in his life? It can’t be for love because he already has a beautiful girlfriend, and if he thinks she’s going to become part of a ménage a trios then he’d better think again. She will marry him because she has no choice but she won’t be sharing his bed…except that sharing his bed is the one thing she wants to do.

More About the Author

In the 1980s Sheila Claydon wrote a number of romances under the pseudonym Anne Beverley, then life got in the way and before she knew it she had turned her back on the characters who were begging to be liberated from her imagination, and stopped writing.

Now she is back to writing fiction again and, considerably older and no longer shy, she writes under her own name. She loves to hear from readers and can be contacted at where her books are listed and she also writes a blog.

Born and educated on the south coast of England, Sheila has gradually moved northwards across the UK. At present she and her husband live on the northwest coast of England on a stunning stretch of unspoiled coastline where she finds walking a constant source of inspiration as well as a counterweight to the sedentary life of a writer.
Interspersed with her writing is a long and varied career in health, education and employment, which mostly involved working to improve standards and opportunities for children, people with disabilities, and older people. She likes to think she is a better writer because of those experiences, and also admits to basing some of her characters on people she has worked with in the past.

As a writer she has tutored creative writing groups and organized and run workshops. She is also a published prize-winning poet whose work can be found in several anthologies. Prior to moving north she also ran workshops for the UK's 'Poetry in Schools' programme, running 3-day events with pupils of all ages right across the educational spectrum.

Although family remains central to her life, she still finds the time to read, to write, and to travel. Many of the places she has visited feature in her books. Reading them is like buying a ticket to romance.

Her motto is this quote by author Ray Bradbury: 'First, find out what your hero wants. Then just follow him.'

She starts with plots, chapter outlines, characterisation; she knows all the rules and faithfully follows them each time she starts to write a new story. Then the hero takes over and she follows him instead...'

5.0 out of 5 stars Emotionally Satisfying 27 Jan 2013

I'm not a big fan of the secret baby trope, but Sheila Claydon manages to pull it off in this story about a naive young woman who learns she's pregnant and then discovers her tennis star boyfriend isn't ready for kids and responsibility. Fast forward three years and Kerry's struggling to raise her twins as a single mom (having been disinherited by her father when he learned of the pregnancy) and she runs into Pierce. Even harder on her, Pierce is living close by and it isn't too long before he discovers the existence of the family he never knew about. In order to take care of his children and make sure they have all the benefits of the lifestyle he can well afford, he insists that he and Kerry will marry immediately. Kerry's a tough heroine to like: she's stubborn and occasionally needs a beating with the clue stick, but her past has shaped her and Ms. Claydon makes the reader care on a deeply emotional level. A lovely story by a very talented author!

I'm all about stories that involve the heart and children. Double Fault has both and with Sheila's talented writing style - I believed the entwined challenges both hero and heroine had to face and deal with to find their way back into each others arms. A TOUCHING READ I highly recommend.Another great Books We Love read.
