To protect her mother's eccentricities from being known in a society where social standing is the ultimate concern, Lady Jasmina Karlyle casts a spell but her magical powers are much greater than she imagined. Her spell is no illusion but a real person who looks exactly like her! Her double cavorts all around Victorian London, stirring up all sorts of trouble in her name. The numerous scandals are only the beginning! The stunningly handsome baronet Sterling Thorn stares at her in the most intimate way as if he knows her, and a little too intimately in her opinion, although she finds herself drawn to him despite her best attempts to block her growing attraction. Beautiful and powerful both as man and a horse, the lowly baronet is exactly the kind of man who will never gain her aristocratic father's approval. For Lady Jasmina, marriage is not an option. She must protect and care for her parents and her mother's little secret provides her with more than enough adventures and danger trying to rectify wrongs and protect their reputation. As Lady Jasmina tries to locate her missing double and discover a missing jewel rumored to be one of the Relics of Merlin, her duty pushes her right up against Sterling, a man charged with finding the lost Relics of Merlin and keeping society safe from those forces that would use these artifacts to evil ends. In a race against time, who will find the relic first or can they find a means to work together rather than at cross purposes? Working in close proximity, can they deny the growing pull towards one another? How will the proper Jasmina measure up to the sexy, provocative, and even scandalous Jaz, her double, in the eyes of the baronet Sterling? Will Lady Jasmina be able to step up for herself and her desires against the disapproval of her family and society?

The second book in The Relics of Merlin series, Kathryne Kennedy's DOUBLE ENCHANTMENT combines humor and emotion in an extraordinary tale of paranormal magic and adventure in a heartwarming fairy tale romance set in the Victorian era in a society governed by class codes built on magical standing as well as economic resources. As the scandals and danger mount, Kathryne Kennedy peers into the heart of her characters as they struggle to conduct themselves with honor while remaining true to themselves. The magical romance between Jasmina and Sterling steals the heart, page by page with each moment and revelation until the final delightful page. DOUBLE ENCHANTMENT speaks to both the little girl and the woman within ---- and brightens the mood with smile after smile! Each and every detail is exquisite. With each page, each revelation enchants the reader more and more until one realizes one is totally submerged into the world of her characters. Just when I thought I had reached the height of delight possible, Kathryne Kennedy introduces two new characters. How I adored the gnomes!!!!

Kathryne Kennedy is quite simply one of the hottest new sensations in the romance genre and DOUBLE ENCHANTMENT is on my top ten list of books read this year. Her particular blend of all that is best in romance will delight a wide range of romance readers with its cross appeal across the breadth of romance subgenres from paranormal to historical romance. From magical details, to fairy tale-like psychological richness, from tender hearts that enchant readers to humorous mischief and suspenseful fantasy adventure in a historical, magical setting, Kathryne Kennedy creates a unique exquisite flavor that makes her romance a pure delight page after page, book after book. Light-hearted, sweet and tender, DOUBLE ENCHANTMENT has just the right measure of suspenseful plot details and emotional richness to make this romance unforgettable.

When a spell infused with Relic magic goes awry no one can tell you better of the consequences then Lady Jasmine Karlyle. She only wanted to bring back a brooch her mother had "borrowed" from a lady friend. With casting a spell she got a life and kicking replica of herself instead of the illusion it was meant to be. Only this replica doesn't have the same upstanding values as Jasmine and Sir Sterling Thorn gets a sensual taste of the replica who calls herself Jaz.

Instead of asking for help, Jasmine thinks she can fix it all by herself only to get into more trouble. When her Aunt Henrietta and Jasmine finally cook up a story that reflects the problem they go to the Hall Of Mages and ask the person with the strongest magic to help them. The King listens to their story when Sterling walks in and sees Jasmine, thinking it is Jaz.

Jasmine is on the receiving end of a soul-scorching kiss and when she finally gets her bearings back she smacks Sterling straight across the face. This is where their story begins...

Double Enchantment casts its spell over me and I was utterly willing to be captured by the magic, the world and its characters! When I read Enchanting The Lady last year I could only hope that Kathryne Kennedy would deliver again. Upon reading the second installment in the Relics Of Merlin series I was once more lured back to a highly imaginative world. I got all that I expected and more!

The first pages transported me to a London where magic is only fit for those of nobility and royalty. It is with their magical abilities the nobles present their calling card and it's a true feast to read about when described by Kathryne Kennedy. From gardens to houses, horses and even clothing, it all can be bathed in magic to enhance one's appearance. Still, there are also the Baronets, with their were-selves and immunity to magic that is both needed but feared. The Baronets are in the King's favor and they are a weapon against the Relic's magic. The descriptive writing style of the author just made it so easy to imagine the scenery in my mind's eye. I could go on and on about every magical detail steeped into this world but that would spoil the fun of discovering it all for yourself!

The outward prim and proper veneer of Lady Jasmine collides with her "other half" who is running amok in London and she needs Sir Sterling to solve it all. Sterling on the other hand doesn't need this kind of distraction from the search for his sister. Still his were-stallion's side will not be ignored and there's a need driving him to get under the skin of Jasmine, revealing her true self. They have a combustible chemistry together and this ever-present attraction and sensuality is intertwined within the pages. It makes your heart start to beat in anticipation, holding your breath, wondering when all the pent up emotions and wanting is going to erupt. Because of a somewhat odd triangular relationship between Sterling Jasmine and Jaz there are many obstacles to overcome. Kathryne Kennedy pulls it off, for it is all about Sterling and Jasmine. The powerful emotions with the main couple were so convincingly portrayed it grabbed hold of me and in the end I needed a tissue or two.

The romance alone could hold one enthralled to the pages but the author adds a select but equally impressive cast of secondary characters to this tale. In her own unique way Aunt Henrietta dares Jasmine to step outside the conventional, moreover, take an adventure or two and I relished in the chaperone she turned out to be. She had me from grinning to full laugh-out-loud moments with her attitude and wisdom. Sir Artimus as a were-lion and right hand to the King was elegant but with a wicked side and then there are two gnomes, Nuisance and Trouble. They added a bit of mischief to Double Enchantment as they accompany humans who encountered problems around every corner. And problems do arise...

The plot gradually unfolded and turned out to be surprising in the end providing an opening for a true happily ever after. The personal growth I witnessed was both realistic and convincing attaching me emotionally to many characters and caring for each in a different way. The epilogue, though not always needed in a tale, gave me that overwhelming sense of righteousness and completed the overall story.

With simmering hot romance, a superbly build up plot and a feast of characters to get to know, Double Enchantment fulfilled every desire of why I love to read so much! When I closed this book, I felt bereft, I didn't get nearly enough of this world Kathryne Kennedy has created!

Double Enchantment is double the enjoyment 28 Aug 2008

Format:Mass Market Paperback

Lady Jasmina Karlyle has enough troubles already. Her mother, Lucy, has a tendency to "borrow" items from her fellow society matrons, which Jasmina has to return without being caught. If her mother's habit were known, their family reputation would be in ruins. Now, the latest borrowed treasure, Duchess of Hagersham's brooch turns out to be one of the Relics of Merlin! Suddenly, a minor spell has gone wry and Jasmina finds out she has released a twin of herself, Jaz, who has none of her morals.

Sir Sterling Thorn is one of the shape shifting baronets charged by Prince Albert to hunt down and destroy all of the Relics of Merlin which can cause immense destruction in the wrong hands. Imagine his surprise when he meets the lovely Jaz at a ball, who reeks of Relic-magic and has made her attraction for Sterling quite obvious. Then when e meets up with her again later, she has no clue who he is and is scandalized by Sterling's attentions.

Now Jasmina and Sterling are working together to find the Relic and track down Jasmina's wayward other half. Their responsibility is complicated by Sterling's drive to find his missing sister, Angel, believed dead by all in his family besides Sterling. Complications arise when Sterling's stallion self claims Jasmina as its mate and the wayward couple finds it harder to resist magnetic pull between them. Then there is the mysterious Brotherhood that appears to be connected to the missing Relic, Angel's disappearance, and a greater plot that could destroy London as they know it. Is it any wonder vexing gnomes Nuisance and Trouble are attracted to Jasmina's predicament?

Kathryne Kennedy continues her magical Relics of Merlin series with Double Enchantment, our second visit to this fantasy London. Here, social status is determined by magical ability and the types of magic used. Once again, I found myself drawn into this beautiful world where nothing is as it seems and everywhere we turn we find more elaborate illusions. We also spent more time in the dark underworld or magic than in Enchanting the Lady, and we learn all manner of details about the seedy underbelly of magical London.

Sterling is on a mission. His number one priority is finding his missing sister whom he is convinced is still alive somewhere. He's none too thrilled about being tasked by Prince Albert to help Jasmina until he is promised whatever he needs to continue the search for Angel. When Sterling sees his Jaz and recognizes her as the beautiful young woman he married the night before, his protestations cease. He is intrigued by Jasmina, especially when she behaves so differently, so coldly, compared to the day before. While he starts out being wildly attracted to "evil" twin Jaz, the more he gets to know the far more subdued and moral Jasmina, the more he finds himself drawn to her until he realizes she is truly the woman meant for him.

Jasmina has always been the proper young miss, resigned to a life without marriage in order to take care of her parents. After all, if she were to leave, who would protect the family from the shame bound to come about when her mother's habit is exposed? She is an intriguing character, all innocence and proper in the daytime, but at night she's become quite skilled at braking in to people's homes to return stolen goods. In here eyes, all is black or white, there is no gray. However, meeting Sterling and discovering her wild twin exists turns Jasmina's world upside down and she finds herself questioning much of what she's always believed.

I loved the mystery story woven throughout the book as to what is happening in the shape shifter community and why they are disappearing. This adds to the already captivating story. We also meet the shady Brotherhood in Double Enchantment and they have grand plans. I expect we haven't seen the last of them and they'll pop up in future books as well.

Double Enchantment by Kathryne Kennedy is double the enjoyment for her Relics of Merlin series. We have the obvious of doubles Jasmina and Jaz, then there is double the trouble when we meet garden gnomes Nuisance and Trouble. After all, everyone knows gnomes are attracted to, as well as creators of, havoc and excitement so once they meet Jasmina, they can't stay away since she's up to her ears in adventure. These mischief makers are so much fun and they liven things up and add comic relief every single time they put in an appearance. Then we have the added bonus of two romances in one. Jasmina's beloved Aunt Ettie has always been there for her and the lively spinster gets a little adventure and love of her own.

I couldn't put Double Enchantment down! My only complaint is that now I have to wait so long for book three!

Magical romance too good to miss! 2 Sep 2008
By Sapphire Dragon - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
I absolutely love this book! This is such a cute story about Lady Jasmina, a high-born magic user and Sterling, a lowly baronet who can shape-shift into a beautiful black stallion. It is a throughly fun story with great characters and full of pure heart! This is the second book in The Relics of Merlin series after Enchanting the Lady and I'm anxiously awaiting the next one in the series!

Doubably Enchanted with Double Enchantment 28 Oct 2008
By seawitch6464 - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
I loved Enchanting the Lady and couldn't wait for Double Enchantment to come out. It enchanted me as much as the first. I loved how Lady Jasmina double Jaz gets to do all the " wicked/fun" stuff like cavort with nymphs. I love Sir Sterling and and his were animal is sumptuous. What girl wouldn't fall in love with him... I also enjoyed how Nuisance and Trouble enhance a wonderful story and can add that tickle factor. And the little side romance of Aunt Ettie and Sir Artemus is a bonus that brings a warm smile. I just knew that marriage certificate would figure back in at some point. This story was absolutely wonderful but I don't want to give too much away. Double Enchantment is defiantly a must read and I can't wait for the next book.
