“A smart, snappy writer who hits your funny bone!” – Janet Evanovich

It’s Davis Way’s first slot-tournament season. And it may be her last.

Things are dicey at work. A personal assistant goes missing, a little old lady goes on a suspicious winning streak, and a Bellissimo executive goes gaga for Davis. She follows a disappearing slot-tournament player trail to the So Help Me God Pentecostal Church in Beehive, Alabama, then jumps headlong into a high stakes holy scandal.

She’s on a losing streak at home, too. Her days, nights, and dinners run together, as Davis juggles a revolving door of uninvited guests, namely her rotten ex-ex-husband, Eddie Crawford. And Bradley Cole thinks three’s a crowd.

The worst? Davis doesn’t feel so hot. Maybe it’s the banana pudding, or maybe it’s a little bundle of something else.

DOUBLE DIP. A reckless ride in the fast lane, and Davis Way can’t find the brakes.

Praise for DOUBLE DIP:

“Archer’s bright and silly humor makes this a pleasure to read. Fans of Janet Evanovich’s Stephanie Plum will absolutely adore Davis Way and her many mishaps.” – RT Book Reviews

“Take a gamble and read Double Dip! Five stars out of five.” – Lynn Farris, National Mystery Review Examiner at

“Hilarious, action-packed, with a touch of home-sweet-home and a ton of glitz and glam. I’m booking my next vacation at the Bellissimo!” – Susan M. Boyer, USA Today Bestselling Author of the Liz Talbot Mystery Series

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing! 4 Feb 2014
By Julie Hallberg - Published on
It's 2:30 in the morning and I just finished Double Dip. I couldn't stop reading until the end and I couldn't wait to let everyone know how fantastic this book is! Gretchen Archer has a way of telling a story that is both unique and brilliant. I found myself laughing out loud one minute and holding my breath the next. If you don't have this book yet, you're missing out.

5.0 out of 5 stars Double Dip is a roller-coaster of a read!!! 27 Jan 2014
By Cheryl Green - Published on
Davis Way is part of the security team at the Bellissimo Resort and Casino in Biloxi, MS. Her latest assignment is to find out why a little old lady with a PO Box address keeps winning the slots tournaments. Before she can start that assignment, Davis has to find the assistant to Bianca Sanders - who is the wife of the casino CEO. In her “spare” time Davis just happens to double for Bianca at events she doesn’t want to attend.

Things are just as dicey in the personal life of Davis Way. She is trying to avoid her ex-ex husband, while trying to make sure her current beau, Bradley Cole, remains in the picture. Davis is also watching out for Grandma Dee, who is a bit of a gambler. Will Davis ever find the time to take the test?

Things to ponder: Why would anyone shoot Peyton? What is wrong with Davis? Just where is Bradley Cole? What is that smell coming from the new master bedroom?

This second book in the Davis Way Crime Caper series does not disappoint. It is filled with down-home flavor and impossible to put down. I love the assortment of quirky characters that populate the book. Double Dip is a roller-coaster of a read. Gretchen Archer has given us enough red herrings to fill the buffet table at the Bellissimo Resort and Casino. The protagonist is smart and sassy with a wise- cracking sense of humor. I love that the author has rolled the dice on some captivating sub-plots and manages to pick up all her chips in one fabulous ending. So if you like betting on a winning mystery, then you should be reading Double Dip. “Dammit, Davis – how will I be able to wait until Double Strike comes out”?

FTC Full Disclosure - A copy of this book was sent to me by the publisher in hopes I would review it. However, receiving the complimentary copy did not influence my review.

5.0 out of 5 stars Entertainingly Amusing 16 Mar 2014
By D. Love - Published on

I had such a good time running around with Davis as she tries to solve all the situations that lands in her lap from the senior winning too too often at the casinos, to her boss’ wife who is too too demanding and to her job that is too too interfering with her love life. How she gets through it all is wrapped in this fast and full speed ahead darling of a book that engaged and entertained me from beginning to end; and what a ride this was. Davis and her associates, in particular Fantasy and No Hair, are back in this sophomore drama by Ms. Archer that does not disappoint in delivering delightfully charming and amusing adventures from the halls of the Bellissimo.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gretchen Archer and Davis Way are double thumbs up 3 Mar 2014
By Maggie - Published on
Format:Kindle Edition
Gretchen Archer is a master of sarcastic wit mixed with exaggeration and hilarity. Davis Way is a hot redhead, blond, brunette, bald (just kidding) twice divorced (from the local idiot) security person for a casino where there is always double trouble. Her escapades leave you laughing but entertained and wondering what is going to happen next. (I'm glad that double dip didn't mean Davis had two jaws packed with Redman) Ms. Archer has a great little series going and I'm sure many are biding their time until the next episode arrives. I know I am.
