Product Description

Justine Jones lived her life as a fearful hypochondriac until she was lured into the web of a mysterious mastermind named Packard, who gifts her with extraordinary mental powers—dooming her to fight Midcity’s shadowy war on paranormal crime in order to find the peace she so desperately craves.

But now serial killers with unheard-of skills are terrorizing the most powerful beings in Midcity, including mastermind Packard and his oldest friend and worst enemy, Midcity’s new mayor, who has the ability to bend matter itself to his will.

As the body count grows, Justine faces a crisis of conscience as she tests the limits of her new powers and faces an impossible choice between two flawed but brilliant men—one on a journey of redemption, the other descending into a pit of moral depravity.

Great follow up 19 Mar 2012
By bookeholic VINE™ VOICE
Format:Kindle Edition
This is the second installment of the disillusionists trilogy where we see Justine and the team having to disillusion all the prisoners that Otto has so that they can be released. Janine and the mayor (Otto) are in a relationship but there is still a lot of tension around Packard who Justine feels betrayed by. There is a lot going on in this book and it has one hell of an ending - I could not sleep after it finished it was really really tense I was running about shouting at my kindle! I love Simon in this book - his sense of style and his recklessness and please I want a GUMPY for my car! can't wait for the next, and sadly, last in the series but am sure Ms Crane has lots of ideas and will soon have more for us to devour.

Refreshingly fresh, humourous and innovative Urban fantasy 26 May 2011
By Tarun R. Elankath - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I loved both the books in the series which I discovered recently. Its *so* nice to read an urban fantasy without vampires, witches, werewolves - bye, bye tired old themes. Say welcome to 'highcaps' - 'high capacity' humans. Even the normals can learn special tricks. In 'Double Cross', Justine is on a deadline to 'dis-illusion' a dream invader before her dreams are taken over and discover the identity of a trio of high-cap serial killers. The clues to the mystery lie in her boss's dreams who has dark and horrific memories of his youth. Knowing too much might be more dangerous than knowing too little.
