Bought these for our kids to play with and they are brilliant - clear reception indoors and out, no background intereference and very easy to use. Range is apparently up to 7km in an open space although haven't tested this. We had originally bought the National Geographic ones which were terrible - took them back the same day! These are well worth the extra fiver.

Bought these for my five year old's birthday and she loves them. Both she and her seven year old sister have had hours of fun with them. Clear reception, easy to use and by far her favourite present. Excellent value too when compared to more expensive childrens character walkie talkies which can be very disappointing with poor reception. Use them in the garden, at the park - even on holiday!

We bought these for our 5 year old daughter on her birthday because they seemed to be more robust and had better reviews than the kiddie character ones. Overall, they are very good. The coverage is excellent unless you need to cover a much greater distance than 50 to 100 metres. Each radio requires 3 AAA batteries and they don't last very long at all. The first set of batteries lasted less than 48 hours, so if you intend to use them a lot it could work out quite costly unless you have a charger and recharable batteries.

I would have expected with 8 channels to find one that isn't already in use by somebody else locally, but unfortunately it doesn't matter what channel we select, we always end up picking up somebody elses chatter.... and if we can hear them, the likelyhood is that they can hear us. I'm sure common sense should have told me this, but not everybody who uses these radios is an innocent five year old. We have on a few occasions picked up some appauling language that we would rather our children do not hear.

We bought this for the kids to go on holiday - they could have that bit more freedom away from the caravan etc but still in contact with us, and it made trapsing round gardens, walks etc that bit more fun for them, able to go off ahead but keep in touch without us having to shout after them. Really pleased with the product, they worked brilliantly for what we wanted. The kids also loved going off exploring with them. Communication was really clear, and it was a brilliant way to let the kids "off the lead" so to speak without having to shout for the rest of the world to hear! Kids loved it so much they didn't stop nattering on them back to us, so make sure you have plenty of batteries!

Bought this as a gift for my niece, to communicate from her little garden house to the family home - no problems nor interference, worked well and was easy to use. Would recommend.

I bought these little radios to replace some Motorola ones which stopped working. They are OK in that they do the job, but I do have some niggles about them.

In their favour they are very reasonably priced, compact and easy to use. However, the sound quality is very hissy - obviously I don't expect hi-fi, but it's actually hard to hear what the other person is saying sometimes - and the "beeps" it gives out for the call signal, on release of the PTT button and when turning on and off are annoyingly loud compared to the volume of speech. Also, the buttons are proud from the surface rather than recessed, so they often get pressed by mistake when I have the unit clipped to my belt and am sitting in a chair with a back or arms, and the symbols on the buttons are wearing off even after a very few weeks.

None of this is a disaster, and it may not worry you - especially at this very good price - but I thought I'd mention it. For me, until I had reliability problems with the Motorola I much preferred them even though they cost more.

bought these for my daughters 6th birthday and she loves them, easy to work and understand. Good range for kids down the bottom of the garden, round the camp site etc etc. Only bad point hence the 4 stars is that they eat batteries. Other wise fantastic

Bought this product primarily for my 7 year old daughter, she was actually asking for the National Geographic Walkie-Talkie. But having read the adverse reviews for the NG Talkie, I was disinclined to get it. Found Doro WT77 as being the best choice for the budget of less than 20 pounds.
Ordered on amazon and it was delivered on time, opened it along with my daughter and got it working within 5 minutes. It takes 3 AAA batteries and while there are about 5 channels to choose from, by default it is channel one for both the transmitters so there is not much of setup required.
We first tried it out within the housing complex where we stayed, these are a cluster of buildings and it worked fine to a max of 100 ft, beyond which we did not try. We also found that the signals reach the basement parking zone, where my mobile phone never works. This would be handy when we want to communicate with someone in the cellar.
We also tried out in our friends place which had lots of row houses and it was able to receive signals even up to 500m. It was great and my daughter was having a great time talking to her friend.
It has already been dropped once or twice but it is still working great. I haven't yet tried the max of 7km range on open grounds that it promises. But that does not matter as the kids are having most fun with their friends who are around.
On the whole a nice product and could be a good gift to the kids.
