The only other (I assumed impartial) review of this product rated it so highly, I bought it without hesitation. Performance is, however, disappointing. It falls significantly short of the expectation created by the description "powerful, long-range". Tested over open countryside, we found that reception begins to break up at around 0.5km....which represents no real improvement over the old BT Freeway FM two-way radio we were planning to replace.

I already knew this before purchasing, but it seems that another reviewer did not. When it says it will reach 7-10KM, this means on flat terrain with NOTHING in the way. I used these when travelling to and in France in a car convey of 3 cars.
It was extremely helpful and buying a second set and having them on the same channel works aswell, brilliant. Having said this, I dropped one on the floor, perhaps from a height of 3 feet (max.) and it started crackling, but only when nobody was talking through it or to it. Strange, but slightly annoying. Fortunately, we had 4 when we only needed to use 3, so it worked out fine. Seemed to have a long battery life, 5 or 6 hours and it was still working fine.

I've had this item for over 9 months now and the item is very small and is a good product. However I'm very disappointed in Doro UK. I dropped one and needed a replacement. Forget it! The advice is that even though Doro make them that they won't ever split a pack for this and their advice is to buy another two. This is unacceptable in my opinion. After much discussion, someone at Doro UK was willing to split a pack but (wait for it) wanted £30 for a single handset. My suggestion is find another brand with a greater level of support.
