Bought this for my elderly Aunt who was constantly pressing the wrong buttons on her TV remote and getting very confused and upset. This device is very simple to program, and works very well. It does exactly what I was hoping for and she can now operate the basic TV functions herself confidently. The only downside of only having up/down channel movement is that it can take some time to scroll back to the beginning of your channels, so I configured the one 'spare' programmable button to always set the TV to BBC1 (channel 1). This means that if my Aunt ever gets confused, all she does is press this magic button to get back to BBC1 from where she can start again. Simple, robust, easy to program and operate - what more could you want.....

I bought this item for my elderly grandmother who has given up on television due to the fact that all modern remote's have several dozen, very small, buttons which worry her.

This remote is exactly what she needed, large buttons which allow her to control just the basic functions of the TV. Having had previous bad experiences with universal remote's I was pleasantly surprised with the concise and easy to follow instructions allowing simple set-up for each of the buttons.

It just does exactly what it says on the tin, no frills no gimmicks.

We purchased this remote control for our relative with vascular dementia, since she could no longer cope with the size of and number of buttons on the normal TV remote. It was such a success, we've bought a second handset for use when she stays with us. Easy to programme and simple to use. A good buy.

I wrote to the makers and specified the make/model of TV I wanted to use this for. it's my Mum's (she's 89 and needed a simple remote).
They duly replied and said it was compatible. It isn't! Therefore my rating reflects their lack of quality control or the fact they couldn't
be bothered to check if it was compatible. Either way, i returned it and Amazon refunded my money. Thanks Amazon.

A Very happy chappy.
Due to its programming and very flexible capabilities, let me explain.
I have a remote device to trigger my camera, its cheap and doesn't work for long distances and the buttons are poor!
So I thought I would try and program the Doro remote from my camera remote and WOW yes that good.
The Doro works amazingly well at triggering my camera so much so that the camera triggers even if I point the remote at another wall.
The buttons also have a positive feel to.

All in all this is a very cleverly made learning remote control.
(You need the equipments original remote to train it, you can program any of the Doro keys to do any function of the equipments original.)

PS I also re-labelled the Doro's TV symbols to that of my camera's functions.

I bought one of these for my mother-in-law who has dementia. She has three TVs - two M&S analogue/digital ones and an older Panasonic one which is converted to Freeview using a Sagem Freeview box. This remote didn't work on any of them although it is OK on my own 1 year old Panasonic. I would recommend checking compatibility before purchasing this item.

This remote has only six buttons and is very simple to use. My 91 year old mother, suffering short term memory loss, has fewer problems with this than the manufacturer's original remote.
The only (slight) downside is the number of times I had to "program" the remote before it started to operate reliably

When my 91-yr-old mum (who has difficulties following a stroke three years ago) was forced to "go digital" I anticipated problems for her having to juggle a new digibox remote together with her original TVs' remotes, so we chose together two new TVs with freeview. I hadn't expected that she would have such enormous difficulty with the complicated remote controls supplied with the new TVs, mainly as a result of accidentally pressing the wrong buttons. She was in despair and getting terribly stressed.

These doro remote controls have come to the rescue. I've set one up to work with her Panasonic Viera TV, and programming it to "learn" from the TV's own remote was very quick and very easy. I can just set up the TV the way she wants it (picture preferences etc.) using the TV's own remote - which can then be stored out of the way. All she now has to do, using the doro remote, is turn on/off, move volume up/down and change channel up/down.

Hopefully a second doro remote will be just as easy to set up, to work with her other Samsung TV.

It works!! The design is brilliantly simple*. Everything has been so cleverly thought-out. Amazon's price is very good, as well.

I only wish I'd known about these before, because my father and my mother-in-law had exactly the same difficulties when they suffered similar cognitive impairment.

On another point, I notice that other reviewers have had difficulty getting these to work with Tesco's Technika range of TVs. I'm not surprised, as I experienced lots of problems with the Technika that we chose for my mum. Even if it had worked properly - it didn't - the sound quality was atrocious, especially at the high volume a hard-of-hearing person requires.
