Book Description

8 Jan 2012 Michelin Green Guides
This completely revised new edition features the best of Dordogne, Berry and Limousin. The regions described include some of the most and some of the least visited areas in France. The Dordogne and increasingly the Quercy, are characterised by castles and caves and are well known to visitors. The Berry and Limousin with their unspoiled verdant countryside and plateaux are much less familiar. Tours, maps, full-colour photos, illustrations and plenty of new content help you to explore the region, while Michelin's celebrated star-rating system and respected maps make sure you see the best on offer from the prehistory of Périgord Noir to the wine growing region of the northern Berry and the crisp white wines of Sancerre.

We bought this in advance of a trip to the Limousin in central France. we'd driven through this area once before and were interested in a longer stay a couple of years later, and were looking for additional information as to what to do and see. However apart form a few bits this book did not provide the type of info we were expecting, and found independently on the internet so we sold it after our trip on eBay. This is possibly because the area covered is quite large geographically.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not quite as expected 18 Oct 2013

I expected the guide with info on places to visit and not the hotel guide but this is a mixture of both. Too much info on restaurants & hotels (which is irrelevant if you're already booked) and not enough depth on places to visit. Bring back the old separate Green & Red guides.

This is really a book of reference - if you know where you are going you can read up about t but it is not really a guide to the area in the sense of suggesting where to go or not to go, like the rough Guide, which I bought at the same time is.

Rating is appropriate for a good publication.
Only drawback was that it covers a lot of territory not being visited. A more complete one concentrating on just the Dordogne region would be better.
Would reccommend it to anyone visiting the area.
