Product Description

Post 9-11, the CIA began developing "Chupacabra"—genetically engineered animals—to track and kill insurgents in Afghanistan. Now the program is complete... and in Russian hands.

The first mission: eliminate an undercover agent before he can hand-off secret information. But now every person who came in contact with the body is dying, and the virus is spreading.

When ex-Special Forces operator Richard Daniels is asked by the victim's sister to investigate her brother's gruesome death, she hands Richard an encrypted CD that arrived shortly after her brother's death.

Daniels turns to Chantal Latour, a member of his old army squad in Afghanistan, for help.

While Daniels and Chantal investigate, and the CDC chases after a weaponized strain of the Ebola virus with no known cure, the Russians find and kidnap Chantal's daughter. The ransom: return the CD or witness first-hand what a "Chupacabra" can do.

THE REMNANTS OF WAR, in series order
The Last Operation

4.0 out of 5 stars Simply breathtaking story. 12 April 2014

Amazingly fast paced action and infuriatingly addictive story line only let down by very poor editing. Miss spelt words and even the wrong words used in some places. Such a great story I will still read the next one in the series.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another good one from Astre 18 April 2014

Liked this one from the first page.

This one starts off in San Juan harbor in Puerto Rico.

A rustbucket of a ship is in that harbor. A rustbucket thats far from the rusted ageing ship it appears to be.

Inside the hull is a creature. A genetically engineered creature who's sole mission is to kill. Its also carrying a disease thats worse than Ebola. A disease thats transmitted to anyone who handles the body of anyone the creature has touched. Its fast spreading and there is no cure. You get it. You die.

An undercover ATF agent has the low down and makes his escape from that ship. He almost makes it to the woods when the creature kills him. He did, however, manage to mail a CD to his sister in Everglades, Florida. A sister who promply gives it to Richard Daniels. She also asked him to go to Puerto Rico to find her brother.

So begins one damned fine read.

This one has Daniels dealing with the death of Kate and landing in Puerto Rico, a disease on that island thats already claimed lives, Johnny Rivera a friend and ex Spec Ops teammate who currently works for the NYPD, Chantal LaTour another ex Spec Op's teammate who's an expert with comuputers , action in Puerto Rico, New Jersey, New York, the CD everyone is looking for and Daniels has hidden, a shady guy named Aztec, murder, genetically engineered creatures, death, destruction, Daniels finally laying Kates death to rest and Daniels and his crew looking to save the day.

Just one great read. Five stars and then some.

5.0 out of 5 stars A fresh spin on a tale of government secret agencies agenda to rule the world. 3 May 2014

I beleve young as well as older readers of conspiracy noval will love this book for its griping story line. The wat Patrick Astre uses analogies and metafores truly helps to got a sense that you are hearing the words of this diabolical scheme from the characters themselves !! Once I started to his writing I didn't want to stop until I finished the series. Pat's main character Richard Daniels has all the makings you want in a black opps agent that you would wish you possessed yourself if you were in his combat boots !!
