5.0 out of 5 stars Monster Magnet - Dopes To Infinity 7 Nov 2011
By Gentlegiantprog TOP 500 REVIEWER
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
Dopes To Infinity was released in 1995 and was the third full-length studio album from the Red Bank, New Jersey based rock/metal band Monster Magnet, the album is somewhat of a cult classic within the Stoner Rock genre and is very popular among Monster Magnet fans.

Dopes To Infinity contains the single `Negasonic Teenage Warhead' and the popular tracks `Dead Christmas' and `Look To Your Orb For The Warning.'

In every way, this is a strong album from the band. The lyrics, production, performances and songwriting are all just on top form, with Dave's Vocals in particular really coming in to their own. Stylistically, the album maintains some of the psychedelic touches of its predecessors but overall relies more on riffs and grooves.

Highlights include the memorable `King Of Mars,' as well as the aforementioned `Negasonic Teenage Warhead' and `Look To Your Orb For The Warning,' all of which demonstrate what Monster Magnet were capable of when at their best.

In summary, Dopes To Infinity is a strong, confident and well written album that contains a lot of classic material and is more than worth a place in any Stoner Rock collection. If you are a fan then hands down you need a copy of Dopes To Infinity and it is indeed a good record to pick up even if you are a prospective fan.

5.0 out of 5 stars Where Dope Meets Infinity! 26 Nov 2003
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
This is one of those precious albums that just 'is' - period. The feeling and the creativity ooze out of each track, along with a few homegrown truths about life squeezed in to boot. After a few listens you'll love each track for what it is and what it's trying to say - unless you have no taste, but then you wouldn't be reading this would you?
To sum up: It's well worth waiting for, however long it takes to aquire. Buy it and support the band- drugs don't come cheap you know!

Having been a huge Monster Magnet fan for many years and owning all their CDs I have come to the conclusion that 'Dopes To Infinity' is their finest work to date. The stand-out tracks are 'Dopes To Infinty', 'Negasonic Teenage Warhead' and the insanely brilliant 'Dead Christmas'. Buy this and be blown away by the awesome power and style of the 'Magnet!

5.0 out of 5 stars Essential stoner rock 20 Dec 2000
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
Monster Magnet are quite simply one of the most interesting things to have come out of the metal scene in recent years. Korn, Slipknot etc. None can be compared to the ridiculously epic sound these boys put forward. I could of course (if you know anything of them at all) say this about any single one of their albums. Spine of God - epic. Powertrip - a bit less epic. God says No - also epic. You get the idea. Buy this album. Smoke a spliff or five. Listen to 'All friends and kingdom come'. Weep. Words can say no more. What a band. What an album.

5.0 out of 5 stars Doped to Infinity 10 April 2000
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
Firstly, it rules. Great vibe, vocals and guitar tones/riffs will have you chilled in no time. All you need now is a lava-lamp and a cranked up guitar to play along with it. If nothing else at least listen to the sample from Negasonic Teenage Warhead.
Note that this was released before powertrip, i.e. it's more chill-out than ironic-metal. Oh, and if you like this, try Kyuss too: a bit heavier, bit more grooved.
