The book is OK but the title of Culinary Catastrophes and Don't Try this at Home was misleading. The catastrophes center around large commercial kitchens and they do not offer any viable tips for the home cook. It is a very quick read.
When I bought this book I thought that there would be more stories about 'how I burnt my pancakes once..' But no. And actually it turned out better than I expected. The book includes a lot of short funny stories from the world known cooks about some funny and interesting situations during their professional life (eg, how the whole stuff got drunk while serving guests at dinner, what kind of interesting clients you have in Hamptons, etc). Easy reading. Now it's fun to share these stories as small talk in parties.. :)
