More About the Author

Karen Rose was introduced to suspense and horror at the tender age of eight when she accidentally read Poe's 'The Pit and The Pendulum' and was afraid to go to sleep for years. She now enjoys writing books that make other people afraid to go to sleep.
Karen lives in Florida with her husband of twenty years and their children. When she's not writing, she enjoys travelling, karate and, though not a popular Florida pastime, skiing.

4.0 out of 5 stars mysterylover 29 Feb 2008
Format:Mass Market Paperback
I bought this book thinking it was only a murder mystery but found out that it was also classed as murder/romance
I found the story and characters very good and i really enjoyed it and at times couldn't put it down but must admit that i found the romance part appeared far too often and went into far too much detail and also the main characters thinking about each other was a bit repetitive
Sticking to the main story would have made it a better read but since the story line was really good i give it 4 stars

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic 14 Nov 2009
Format:Mass Market Paperback
I read the bad reviews on this book and couldn't understand their disappointment in this story. I suppose everyone has different taste and expectations. I loved this book. karen Rose never fails to keep me anxious to find out what happens next. Personally, I found this story brilliant. The characters were believable and I couldn't wait to find out more. Yet again, another page turner by Karen Rose.

4.0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable 6 Dec 2006
Format:Mass Market Paperback
The book is about Caroline and her son Tom who ran away from her husband 7 years ago and were presumed dead and now have there own life together. When Caroline gets a new Boss called Max they are both drawn to each other and a relationship blooms but Caroline has to let go of the past and Max also has his own demons to overcome and this makes there relationship difficult.

Also Caroline's husband, who he a cop has figured out she is alive and is after her leaving a trail of destruction in his wake and is being chased by his fellow cops as they have figured out he is evil and after her and it is a race for them to find Caroline before he does!

I brought this book with the worry it would be a rip off of sleeping with the enemy but it was really quite good. I know that Karen Rose has written other books about some of the characters and I am interested to see what happens to them.

1.0 out of 5 stars Same Old Same Old 29 Jan 2012
Format:Paperback
Once you have read one of Karen Rose's books you have read them all, they all stick to the same formula. It would be nice if they were not so predictable. I think this is a problem with a lot of American writers. I think I will be sticking to British writers from now on

5.0 out of 5 stars Must tell you about don't tell! 9 Mar 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I bought this book having seen Karen Rose's books on the shelves and wondered what they were like, as I usually go for Jeffrey Deaver, Kathy Reichs, Karin Slaughter and Stephen King. I was not disappointed. The story hooked me in quickly and I found I couldn't wait to pick the book up again to find out what happened next. The story keeps your attention from beginning to end and I am looking forward to getting another book by Rose.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great read 12 May 2008

I can't believe some of the reviews I've just read. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The romance is a good counterfoil to the suspense - means I can read it before bed without nightmares!

2.0 out of 5 stars Don't Innovate 4 Jan 2012
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
This was the third Karen Rose book I read (which admittedly meant I knew the ending as it pre-dated the other two).

While it passed the time enough, I was getting VERY BORED of the looping sub-plot involving the two main characters trying to hook up, then not hooking up, then arguing about something, then trying to hook up over and over and over again.

The 'intimate scenes' go on forever whereas the thriller scenes are fleeting. The villain is as one-dimensional as they come and virtually everyone else is good and true, haunted by some dreadful thing that befell them.

The other books I read (Have You Seen Her? and I Can See You) featured some of the same characters and both were better, but Rose seems to trade solely on a damaged man with a bad past meeting a damaged woman with a bad past - the woman is being stalked by a killer and the man has to fall in love with her, fall out with her, save her and then win her.

This worked nicely once and was even tolerable twice but after a third book of the same thing happening yet again, I think I'm done with her.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good read can't believe bad reviews 10 Jan 2010
Format:Mass Market Paperback
I love Karen Rose, shes a great author. It might not be as hard a mystery/thriller crime story as in say Simon Kernick, but i love them and can't put her stuff down.
