The western band have managed to create a superb sound not disimilar from eric clapton and ban harper. The smooth guitar intros set the scene on a melodical fusion of folk and modern sound. Superb.

I decided to check out Widespread Panic after hearing people talking about them at a Gov't Mule gig here in England. In case you have never heard them before, they are generally lumped in with the "jam band" scene.

It took me about 3-4 listens to get into, and since then I have fallen in love with this record. Don't worry if you are not overly into the "jam" side of things - this is a really strong selection of interesting songs. Of course, every track is drenched in excellent musicianship, but the key for me is the richness of tunes. Great guitars, nice pianos and some lovely hammond to round things off.

Definitely one of my best purchases this year!
