Simply put, this is the track almost entirely responsible for house music as we know it today. Bambaata, always noted for his phenomenal variation of source material, here combines elements from Krafwerk's 'numbers' and the legendary 'trans-europe express' to create a musical masterpiece. With 'planet rock' Bam transcends genres while simultaneously creating a new one....Electro. This comes with bonus beats and loads of top remixes and is highly recommended by myself. BUY IT!

"Planet Rock" gets the bangin' re-mix treatment!

Man, I don't see how the previous reviewers could diss this CD by giving it such low ratings. The Magic Mike re-mix is my favorite version because of the James Brown breakbeats he looped on top of the main rhythm. And the original 12" vocal version plus Bonus Beats 1 is reason enough to buy this CD. This is the song that everybody was rockin' during the summer of 82'. Classic jam that made all the b-boys and b-girls start breakin' and poppin'!
It just brings back the early sound and feel of hip hop that I miss so much. None of this "bling bling" crap that's going around now. This song gave birth to the entire "electro funk" scene which in turn influenced other styles of dance music like hard house, techno, etc. Add this to your collection of old school CD's and call yourself a true hip hop head!!!

i have owned this cd for some time now and i still listen to it from time to time a must have if you like old school.

This true Old School recording will take you back to the 80s, the era of disco and break dancing. Planet Rock is truly a classic from that time.
