I was such a fan of Lois Duncan back in the late eighties, but this was one I'd missed. I was disappointed. I think life has moved on and good or bad, teenage novels and the teenagers in them, have become more sophisticated. Whilst I don't doubt that a teenageer would not be happy to discover they have to enter witness protection because their father has given evidence in a high profile trial, I also don't think they would be so naive to do some of the things that she then does. The ending is weak and fizzles out. There's not enough tension in the whole book. It's also been revised since it's original publication and I wonder why (It can't be just to add a reference to Pirates of the Caribbean!!) If you want a good Duncan read try "Stranger with my face".

This book was one of the most exciting books i have ever read. It gave me a whole different view of life and made me remember the treasures of life we take for granted. I had to read more of the book and could not put it down. I was drawn to the fact someone had to change their whole identity and give up everything they had. It was one of those books that really make you think twice before doing something. Whether or not it was a normal day to day thing or not. This book made me laugh, cringe and kept me in suspense. This is a book you have to read.
