Another great pigeon story - great drawings, great wheedling from the pigeon, great fun. The only drawback is that my nearly three year old could see which way the wind was blowing ('five more minutes' being one of his own favourite pleas) and was willing to allow the pigeon a bit more leeway than was warranted. If you liked not letting the pigeon drive the bus, you'll love this one too.

There's not a great deal to actually 'read' in this series of books but my wife and 5 year old enjoy them (my wife reads them TO our son... she doesn't enjoy them for herself... at least that's what she tells me!).
I believe we have the whole range now and we have purchased a few for our French nephew (6 years old) and niece (5 years old). Again, because there's not a lot of text, they also find the books amusing and easy to follow.
To summarise, I would recommend the books for children between 4 and 6 years old. One would assume that the books would also be enjoyed by younger children but I cannot comment on their appeal to children older than this.

We are left in charge of the pigeon for a while but we must make sure he goes to bed and doesn't stay up late. Enter the pigeon who pleads, debates, argues and demands his right to stay up late.
Both of my children loved this book and I have to admit, so did I. My children loved the interaction and shouting 'no' at every demand of the pigeon. Even better we had a good old chuckle about some of the arguments we recognised there from their own attempts to stay up late. The pictures are brilliant, the illustrator has really captured the essence of 'outraged pigeon', 'reasonable pigeon' and 'begging pigeon', you can even sense a little pigeon pout.
There are hundreds of books out there with a story, but this one offers something a bit unique and very much appeals to my children (2.5 and almost 7)

My son aged 4.5 didn't like this book and neither did I! My son is enjoying books that have a "proper story" that we can talk about, and this book doesn't. Read more

Great story. My first of the Pigeon series, but I'm hooked already!! My 3 yr old picked up on idea on 1st read. Naughty pigeon!! NO!! You can't!!! My 1 yr old gathers idea,too!! Read more

A great fun book!
This book is beautifully written and illustrated. It's great fun to read with 1-4 or 5 year olds, in my experience - depends how they respond to books. Read more
