4.0 out of 5 stars Great Band live but not so good on cd 10 Mar 2002
Format:Audio CD
I first heard the bands music when i saw them live and decided to buy their cd. But to my dissapointment i discovered that they were not as good when being recorded. This cd is great for fans of slightly older ska but fans of bands such as less than jake will be dissapointed

5.0 out of 5 stars Still a great band! 10 Dec 2009
By Matt Tomaszewski - Published on Amazon.com

This album has a lot of songs that have become classic. DLTBGYD, Im running right through the world, underground town, devil and a .45, everything you said has been a lie, spooky graveyard, and weekend in L.A. are my personal favorites and thats almost half the album. There are a couple instrumental songs on here such as spooky graveyard and big red. After all these years they are still putting out great music. If you like the toasters or ska music in general this is for you.
4.0 out of 5 stars Don't Let the Bastards Knock This Album! 6 July 1998
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
The Toasters have done it again! With their new album, they prove why they are the reigning kings of the New York ska scene. Great musicianship, a tight rhythm section, and immaculate songwriting. Unfortunately, this album is not quite the caliber of their other recent releases, mainly due to the lack of longtime vocalist Coolie Ranx, now vocalist for The Pilfers. Ranx's soulful Jamaican vocal style complemented lead vocalist Rob "Bucket" Hingley's to define the Toasters' sound. Their new vocalist, Jack Ruby, just isn't the master that Coolie was. However, this IS a great album, and much much better than anything labeled "ska" by the media.
4.0 out of 5 stars Toasted just right 19 Jun 1998

What a surprise this CD is! Despite the cover art (which would have put me off if I hadn't sampled the CD first), this is an incredibly sophisticated, creative and FUN band. Great melding of reggae, ska and Latin music. And these guys have a sense of humor that's missing from many bands palying these genres. Each of the first eight tracks could be a hit single ... if mainstream radio stations played anything but drivel these days.

Great CD. Big sound. Great diversity in the ska genre. One nice remake. Found these guys through the use of their music on the ska brewery website.

I enjoy this CD very much. This is my first time to buy music from The Toasters, but not my last.
