Biography

Byron Bay, Australia; situated on the far north coast of New South Wales, it's arguably one of this planet's most idyllic tourist destinations. A tranquil paradise of immaculate sandy beaches and lush tropical rainforest, it's full of surf retreats, hippie communes and backpacker hostels. Perhaps the most notable thing to come out of the place prior to 2003 were surfing champs and ... Read more in Amazon's Parkway Drive Store

If you are a Parkway Drive fan then this is definitely going to be of some interest to you, a disc that contains the excellent 2004 EP 'Don't Close Your Eyes,' in addition to their tacks from the harder to get a hold of I Killed The Prom Queen Split CD, 'What We've Built,' Split EP with Shoot To Kill & Think Straight, then finally the track "Hopeless" from a compilation album.

Don't be put off by the idea that the songs are from before the band broke through though, as the quality of music is very high all around and much of the material remains in the bands live show to this day.

The sound is not as refined as on the band's later albums like Horizons or Deep Blue, but the style is one hundred percent there already, everything that you like about Parkway Drive is present and correct on this handy collection, giving you exactly what you want... more heavy, breakdown centric music topped off with Winston's distinct voice.

Standout moments include an early version of "Smoke 'Em If Ya Got 'Em," the very harsh "Swallowing Razorblades," and certainly the title track.

To summarize; if you like Parkway Drive and are looking for more, this is a great purchase.

This CD epitomises everything i love about the hardcore genre;
pounding drums, epic breakdowns and melodies which perfectly compliment the honest sound conveyed by Australian hardcore outfit.

This is not even an album, more a selection of songs from their earliest works and eps, but each track offers its own sound. This is unlike the early work of many other hardcore bands who usually produce a collection of montonous tracks which seem to blurr into a single flurry of drums and growls.

'Smoke Em If You Got Em', 'Flesh, Bone and Weakness' and the EP entitled 'Don't Close Your Eyes' are the highlights of this CD; and i know it seems strange to offer such praise to the bands earliest music but i think this is an incredible example of the hardcore genre in its rawest form.

Parkway Delivered with this release! 31 Mar. 2009

If you have the first two Parkway Drive CD's "Killing with a Smile" and "Horizons" and have never heard the songs on this release... then YOU ARE REALLY MISSING OUT! this album is worth importing unless you are lucky enough to find a seller from the U.S. that is selling this... you are going to have to Import this like I did. It is worth it, from song 1 to the end it is just great. "Looks like Yoda" and "Don't Close Your Eyes" are two of the greatest songs ever written in my opinion.. lol im just a fanatic you need to buy this if you love Parkway... if you dont buy this then you dont like them

Not the Parkway your use to. 7 Sept. 2012
By Vincenzo - Published on Amazon.com

First off it's only 7 songs because track: 1 is a cry baby repeating "I don't wanna die" over and over for two minutes..
I can't even bother to remember the other band on this CD but your not getting 8 songs from Parkway, your getting like 5. Also shipping took almost a month. Still have much respect for PD without a doubt.
