Product Description

When Barbra Delaney comes into Grace Smith's office, looks her in the eye and announces, 'I'm filthy rich and I've decided to make a will leaving the lot to a complete stranger. I've chosen you...', Grace thinks she may be hallucinating. It is, after all, the stuff of which daydreams are made. That is until Barbra hands Grace the photographs of three complete strangers, and tells her to find their names and addresses so that she can will all her dear departed husband's worldly goods to them. But, as Grace tracks down the lucky legatees, she discovers that they all have their own reasons for not wanting her poking around in their lives. When a series of increasingly violent events culminates in a very nasty death, it seems that someone will stop at nothing - not even murder - to stop Grace finding out the truth ...

5.0 out of 5 stars Evans hardboiled PI Grace Smith strikes again., 14 Aug 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Don't Mess With Mrs In-Between (A Grace Smith investigation) (Mass Market Paperback)
Excellent thriller - taught and tense right through to the bitter end. If you like your female PI's hardboiled and tough talking, you won't be disappointed with Don't Mess With Mrs Inbetween. But then Grace Smith isn't your average PI. She's an ex-copper with a dodgy reputation, living in a squat and putting up with a double-dealing boss and his sarky secretary at work. Set against the backdrop of an English seaside town, she ducks and dives her way through this typically complicated case. It starts as simple matter of identifying and tracking down three people from photographs - but then the plot twists, twists and twists again, and getting tied up in a barn with a mad farmer pointing a shotgun at her head becomes the least of Grace's worries. Good stuff - Liz Evans does it again.

4.0 out of 5 stars A series which is growing on me, 28 July 2000
By A Customer
The Grace Smith novels are growing on me, although Grace remains tiresomely adolescent for a woman of thirty. Time she did some growing up? The book is a real page turner as Grace tries to track down three unknown people with only snapshots to go on, only to find that not all of them want to be found. The plot is unnecessarily convoluted. Maybe as Evans gains confidence she'll have more faith in her ability to keep it simple.

5.0 out of 5 stars More, more, more!, 25 July 2011

This review is from: Don't Mess With Mrs In-Between (A Grace Smith investigation) (Mass Market Paperback)
The only problem with Liz Evans books is that there just aren't enough of them. Grace Smith and her quirky entourage are always a pleasure and delight to spend time with as they meander through the twists and turns of mysteries and intrigues that by turns surprise, delight, baffle and tease.
