DK always makes me laugh when I play as him on Mario Kart 64. So it's awesome that he has his own show; 'Donkey Kong Country'!
You have Donkey Kong himself, the strongest (but not neccessarily the brightest!) ape on the whole island! Gurdian of the Crystal Coconut, it will grant the wish of whoever posesses it! And there's the tough-cookie Candy Kong, DK's sweetheart, but there always stands in the way, something to thart DK's attempts to please her! Bluster Kong, a pretty stuck-up ape who looks down his nose at DK, owns the barrel factory, and also wants to win over Candy Kong's heart. Cranky, a grumpy old ape, is always moaning and groaning about DK's shennanigans. The 'chilled-out' Funky Kong, the coolest ape on the whole island, whose main persuits are surfing, flying his 'mighty' barrel plane, and wearing his shades, dude! And of course, who can forget, lil' Diddy Kong, DK's best pal, who looks for any inventive ways to cause mischief for DK, as well as being his trusty sidekick!
The bad guys, who are forever bumbling (naturally!), are King K Rool, Klump, and Krusher, the SUPPOSEDLY toughest vegabonds in the whole jungle, and they will stop at nothing to pilfer the sacred Crystal Coconut to satisy their own dastardly ends!
King K Rool always gets frustrated and impatient with his two hopeless henchman. Klump always seems eager to please, but his clumsiness is always his downfall. And Krusher-well, he just makes me laugh everytime he says anything really. He speaks like he's half asleep; dumb, slow-minded, unintelligent: his only strength IS his strength!
For any fan of Donkey Kong, or Nintendo perhaps, it is an absolute must! The graphics rock, especially considering the show was made in 1997, and really represent DK and his pals from the game brilliantly! That coupled with the voice talent, and amusing storylines, makes it comedic, entertaining, and just plain fun to watch everytime! Also, there are some songs in the episodes too, which will always make you laugh! They certainly do me anyway, just because they are so impossibly random and sometimes silly, and jolly!
And if you remember the 'Super Mario World' cartoon from 1991, the very same voice actor that played Yoshi then, plays Diddy Kong in 'Donkey Kong Country'! Funnily enough, seeing what other shows and cartoons he voiced as well as 'Super Mario World' is how I came accross 'Donkey Kong Country'!
So to sum up, if you like Donkey Kong, then you will simply love the comedy and fun of Donkey Kong's very own show on DVD, 'Donkey Kong Country'!
