Book Description

8 Sep 2011
In a sleepy village in medieval Spain, a retired country gentleman spends his waking hours consuming tales of chivalry. Seeing no impediments, such as logic, propriety or sanity, to fulfilling his dreams, this would-be hero reinvents himself as the Knight-Errat, Don Quixote. He sets out across the arid open country in search of adventures accompanied only by his faithful steed, Rocinante, and his dim-witted squire and sidekick, Sancho Panza. Don Quixote Volume 1 perfectly captures the spirit of this classic novel in graphic novel format.

4.0 out of 5 stars great story, good drawing 16 Mar 2013

Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
I am a big fan of the book, and i have recommended it to many friends without success. Thought this might be more accessable for friends and/or thier kids. The story is great and the drawing is good but not great, making it a 4 star instead of 5.

5.0 out of 5 stars Stunningly inventive 3 Oct 2012
Format:Paperback
Not having read Cervantes I can't comment on how true an adaptation of the prose novel this comic strip version is, but in its own right it's a stunningly inventive, funny, brilliant, playful work. Davis's art is (deceptively) simple and clear, his colours beautiful and his comic timing superb. He takes a novel (or at least half of one, so far) that many would consider a daunting prospect and makes of it an accessible, funny work that, for all its ease of reading is, nonetheless, richly rewarding. A triumph.
