As a United States Department of Defense contractor, Don has worked at a large number of United States Navy, Army, Marines Corps and Air Force military installations around the world. Don's work has taken him to the Navy's traditional home of the submarine force at SUBASE New London, Connecticut and to the four major submarine bases located at Norfolk, Kings Bay, San Diego and Pearl Harbor.
Don has also worked at many of the locations featured in this book, including Commander Fleet Activities Yokosuka, Japan, home base of the United States 7th Fleet; the secretive National Security Agency (NSA), in Baltimore, Maryland; and three times at the internationally infamous, restricted-access, Naval Station Guantanamo, located on the southern underbelly of communist Cuba.
As a result of these visits, Don has seen firsthand the war-fighting capabilities that make up the most powerful military in the world.
'Down Deep and Out of Time' chronicles the downing of an American nuclear-powered submarine deep inside North Korea's territorial waters.
Don has written a thriller that in a work of fiction incorporates the very real and dangerous threats to world peace posed by nations like North Korea and Iran who are determined to develop offensive nuclear weapons, and the oftentimes costly and futile attempts to stop them.
Don lives in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania with his wife Dawn and son, Matthew.
