This is the first time in years that I've been compelled to write an album review. This album is one of the best recordings of the last decade. It beautifully balances impulses of careful composition and sound exploration. Knowing it was recorded on a digital 4-track makes it even more impressive, as these arrangements had to be carefully planned in advance to anticipate the need for bouncing tracks around while recording. Certainly fans of experimental pop will find much to love here, but I think the compositions are so strong and tightly focused, sonically, compositionally, and emotionally, that this album deserves a wide listening audience. Let's hope it doesn't fly under the radar forever.
