Book Description

8 Oct 2007
Indelibly scarred by childhood trauma and neglect, Karl Connor attempted to flee the dark shadows of his young life, the horrors that he had experienced, and the inner demons that continued to haunt him. As the past and present collide the brutal reality is that the long slide into violence has already begun, but who could have imagined that his desire for perceived vengeance would have such terrifying results. Young women are being murdered in London suburbs and there is seemingly nothing to connect them to one another, let alone the killer whose charming manner hides a warped and sick mind. Detective Inspector Ross is determined to hunt the killer down, jeopardising his career in the process, as he becomes increasingly alienated and obsessed with finding the murderer. It is a difficult time for him and his depleted team as they find themselves caught up in Karl's deadly game of ruthless vendetta and vengeful murders. Soon their lives begin to run on a parallel, which leaves one of his team in mortal danger.

More About the Author

Wayne was born in Camden, London but is presently residing in East Anglia (on the Norfolk/Suffolk border).

After attending college Wayne embarked on a career within the 'Animal Welfare' sector (RSPCA, DEFRA, Battersea Dogs Home, Suffolk Owl Sanctuary, Mayhew Animal Home...), before returning to his passion for writing.

In 2005 he secured a three-book paperback deal with Pegasus Publishers, who are based in Cambridge.

All novels thus far are psychological thrillers (think Val McDermid/Bret Easton Ellis with Gothic sensibilities!)

Wayne's debut novel 'Redemption' was released 23/01/2006 (to critical acclaim) with his second 'Dominion' following 08/10/2007. The final contracted novel 'Kismet' saw the light of day 31/05/2010.

Wayne's literary nominations thus far include Channel 4 television's Richard and Judy's Book Club Competition, The McKitterick Prize & The Guardian First Book Award.

Feel free to contact/add Wayne as he is always pleased to touch base with kindred spirits.

5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT CHILLER 22 Mar 2008
This book will draw you right in..
That the cold blooded killer was so intelligent an "normal" on the surface made it that much more frightening! This is a real page turner- I loved it!

4.0 out of 5 stars A sensual psychological thriller ! 28 Oct 2007
By Cathy
This novel will definitely keep your attention. I must confess that I was absolutely fascinated by the prologue, after which it was a hard book to put down. A serial killer stalks London's streets and the author skillfully confronts the reader with a series of horrific murders and leaves no forensic stone unturned as the story hurtles towards a terrifying and nailbiting finale.

5.0 out of 5 stars A terrific psychological thriller 7 Dec 2007
I'd waited over eighteen months for this book to be released and I'm relieved to say that it was worth the wait as it worked on so many levels-a tragic love story-a cautionary tale & an insightful psychological thriller. Although it contained some well worn plotlines-world-weary police chief battling his own personal demons-complex killer & romantic interest, it was written with such power, emotion and wit that it never felt staid or cliched and held me totally captivated throughout.
Very gritty and thought-provoking, much in the mode of such writers as Ian Rankine and Val McDermid. For a relatively new author-Very impressive.

5.0 out of 5 stars Tension...Terror...A great read. 9 Oct 2007
By K.Davey
I found this to be a strong well-written thriller that provided psychological insights, fast-pace action and prose that was both sharp and realistic. The characters were well defined and well written and the text emotive.I quickly became absorbed in the story and the pages flew by effortlessly towards a clever ending. Very impressive.

2.0 out of 5 stars Predictable 27 Feb 2012
I read this book in an afternoon having borrowed it from the library (glad I didn't buy it)
I think maybe I read this book in a different way to the other reviewers because I was bored by the whole story and it read like a piece of writing soneone did at their first writing class. Too much description and the only action seemed to be of a sexual nature. The plot was for me predictable and did not hold my attention at all. Ah well we can't all have the same reading interests, so sorry, it will be going back to the library in the morning for someone else to borrow who may enjoy it more than I did.
