I read Deadline, and loved it, so tried this. Good read, would recommend it, but I felt Mr Alcorn tried to cover too many issues, and the book lost it's way a little in the middle. I love the ideas about heaven, I wish Christians would think and talk about heaven more, it is meant to be our hope, but it rarely is! As a rural "middleclass" christian, I did find some of the racism issues hard to relate to, but it was very thought provoking and some of the historical bits I found interesting.

I love to read christian fiction and having never heard of Randy Alcorn, I decided to pick it up and read the cover. It intrigued me and I went on to buy it. While reading this book I kept telling everyone about this "great new black christian author". I was so very surprised to find out that Randy Alcorn was not black. He captured the life and trials of the African-American experience so well. It was so real for me that I felt everything the characters were feeling. The portholes of heaven were great in imagining all those gone on before us that are now "so great a cloud of witnesses".

A good read for African-Americans--but not me.
I was intrigued at first and I was impressed with how well Alcorn was in tune with the Black people. However, the book focused too much on race for me to enjoy. Read more

Excellent characters and plot; heavy political/racial agenda
Randy Alcorn has done an excellent job of creating an absorbing plot, peopled with realistic, three-dimensional characters. Read more

Good plot, tough read
I enjoyed "parts" of this book. As long as the plot remained on Clarence Abernathy and his search for his sister's killers, the book was interesting. Read more

The Dominion
This was the best book I have read. I recommend it to everyone! The glimpses of heaven and hell which Alcott describes, are wonderful. Read more
