Review

'What distinguishes the series from all the others is the zest and freshness of the text. Where the emphasis in other series is on plain and straightforward language, Cambridge English Reading texts typically use very modern expressions and the dialogue is faster moving. This has an impact on the quality of the audio cassettes, which make for very enjoyable listening.' David R. Hill, Survey Review: Readers, ELT Journal

'It was only a matter of time before a major ELT publisher set out to challenge the market dominance of Penguin Classics in the area of readers … CUP have hit back admirably. With something for everyone in your classes, this series is well worth investing in. In fact, it's going to be a difficult act to follow by other publishers.' IATEFL Issues

'The series breaks new ground in two respects. The first is the light and informal style of writing. It is notoriously difficult to write fluent prose using restricted lexis and syntax. Part of the secret is to use word and grammar lists flexibly; but it requires flair and a good ear to produce prose and dialogue that read so well and give such a genuine flavour of modern idiom.' English Teaching Professional

'These were a very good read: exciting fast-moving stories at all levels, and a good mixture of subjects. Most touched on up-to-date themes, such as corruption, refugees, psychology, hunger, feminism, or ecology without being prosy, or moralising.' BaNina Vivanco, SATEFL Newsletter Vol 19 No 3

'This is a well presented, authentic looking series of readers that students should enjoy. They are graded into five levels, and the accompanying cassette will be useful, especially for pronunciation – audio versions are very popular with students.' Josephine Caruana, Network News, Issue 34

2.0 out of 5 stars review of the book 14 Jun. 2005
Format:Paperback
I have read this book at school, so I had to read it. But if I had buy this book on my own, I would stop to read at the first pages.
Actually, the idea of the story is OK, but the author didn't carry out the idea very well.
Some characters of the book are good, for example Captain Marrs, but you don't know enough about the main actor of the story, Saul Grand.
The story isn't very exciting and it is too short, which isn't so bad, because the book is not that great but as I normally enjoy reading it's a pity.
It is illogical, too. Why could wolves life outside and not people? Maybe, Control just said, that people die outside, but it isn't say in the book.
Another reason, why I don't like it is, that the book hasn't much to do with dolphins. The title of the book doesn't fit to the story very well.

Critic of ,,Dolphin music"
We had to read the book Dolphin music at school and for a schoolbook it is okay The story is a bit crazy and very boring. The title of the book doesn't fit to the story. Because most of the book is about control and Beatcon, two crazy organisation and only a little part of the book is about dolphins. The book is very easy to read because the vocabulary is not very different.

1.0 out of 5 stars Bad,BAD,Bad 14 Jun. 2005
Format:Paperback
I don't like the book, because I think the story is boring. I had to read the book at school, but if I had bought the book for my own, I have stopped to read it after a few lines. The ways the persons went from one room to an other room aren't described enough. It's very demanding to read it, because there are many new words. The hole book is illogical. Everybody wants to kill someone and dolphins make music and that's silly. I don't like it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Review from Cathy 14 Jun. 2005
Format:Paperback
Review
I guess at the beginning it's very difficult to understand this book, but then it might be fun to read it. The story of Dolphin Music is interesting and it's full of suspense. The character's one- dimensional but have several and convincing characteristics, that's very good. For people who like to read interesting books which plays in the future, that's the right decision.

I have read the book "Dolphin Music".
I think that is a good story. At first it is difficult to understand the situation. After a few chapters, the story is full of suspense and it might be fun.
The text is easy to understand, even if you don't know all the words.
I think it is a book for people, who like stories about the future and like drama/action books.

2.0 out of 5 stars My review of the book 14 Jun. 2005
Format:Paperback
I have read this book at school, and I think it's very boring. In the story, there is no action and there are not many characters and they are boring, because their history is not very exciting. The good thing about the book is the vocabulary. It's very simple, and you can understand the story without problems. But it's not the best book, I have ever read.

Review
I think the book dolphin Music isn't so good. It's good for English learners, because the words are easy to understand but the story is illogical. Sometimes they change places but you don't know why or how. Actually, the ideas of the author are good, but the story isn't detailed enough .I hadn't bought it for my own, only to read it in school.
