This title features doll-sized dressmaking patterns for ten characters taken from classic stories and fairytales. The patterns are designed to fit dolls sized from 17 to 24 inches with simple guidelines on how to adapt the patterns to fit any size of doll. The general dressmaking instructions are collected together at the start of the book with clear diagrams illustrating the stitches and techniques used. Step-by-step descriptions accompany each outfit. There are also instructions for making all the accessories for each of the characters, including hats and shoes and a full set of underwear. Photographs show both the front and back of each outfit as well as details of the costumes. Each pair of characters is set in a scene from their story.

Lovely book 16 Nov 2010
Format:Hardcover
Got this book only a short while ago so I've not many of the garments yet, but plan on making quite a few of them. The outfits are somewhat different from the usual doll clothes books. There are outfits for gentlemen dolls which is quite unusual I find. The book is very well laid out with sections for underwear, shoes and hats etc, as well as the gowns.I particularly like the Anne of Green Gables and her friend Diana chapter. This book is actually much better than I thought it would be, and I'm very glad I bought it!

I was a little disappointed 10 Feb 2009
By T. Shultz - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
I purchased 3 doll clothes books at the same time and was least impressed with this one. On the plus side it has some nice outfits for storybook characters, including their undies, which I liked. The instructions are good. On the down side, it has relatively few items for the amount spent, the clothes aren't as charming as those I found in the other books, patterns must be traced and contructed. I just don't feel like I will get much mileage out of it for the price asked. If you don't have to pay full price this is worth having.
A Favorite 7 Jun 2011

I love to dress dolls from the skin out. The Doll's Clothes Story Book Collection does just that. The undergarments fit the time period of the outerwear. Accessories, shoes, hats, etc. are included. I love the history given with the fashions. I've read this book several times. Patterns are included. Patterns also given for boy dolls. Excellent resource.
