5.0 out of 5 stars MEN MEN AND MORE MEN IN DOLCE UNDERWEAR OR NUDE!!!, 31 Jan 2011
This review is from: Dolce & Gabbana Uomini (Hardcover)
I was overwhelmed and blushing heavily after browsing with intensity this sexy book.
David Gandy gets my vote in 2 beautiful pages (sadly in underwear, not nudes) but there are plenty more winning portraits there.
The full frontal nudity in some is welcome but not for the shy. There is a definite sense of intimacy between the men and the photographer, else they would not manage to look so relaxed and natural in their birthday suits.
For those who like myself admire Herb RITTS' and Weber's work, this beautifully presented large book will not disappoint.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant homoerotic art., 10 Feb 2011

This review is from: Dolce & Gabbana Uomini (Hardcover)
This is a stunning book. For a start, although it is expensive, you get a lot for your money. The photographs, mostly in black and white, are not pornographic but they are wonderfully erotic. There is not a huge amount of nudity but the suggestion of sex to come is even more exciting. There is a variety of models, all of them beautiful, all apparently at ease in front of the lens and conveying both attraction and intimacy. The standard of photography is exceptional. Leave this book on your coffee table and your straight male friends could not possibly be offended. They might, though, be disturbed.

5.0 out of 5 stars An invigorating look at the male body, 1 Mar 2011
This review is from: Dolce & Gabbana Uomini (Hardcover)
Mariano Vivanco is certainly an inspiring artist, making his way towards becoming one of the greatest photographers alive. The book offers an incredibly vivid look at the male form, going from natural, to more suggestive poses. The compositions are impeccable, and clearly demonstrate Vivanco's passion for tone, exposure and rendering. However, the most compelling feature of this book, is the way it transports the viewer to the settings, which provide for either intimate or remote ones. Additionally, the editing of the photographs serves to accentuate the moods evoked, rather than to perfect the illustrations to an artificial level. The book itself depicts the male body to a very high standard and this perhaps adds a feeling of timelessness as it also reminds of earlier art in the Renaissance period.

The printing of the book is immaculate, the quality of print being produced with utmost care and the hard cover providing for a sturdy viewing.

Despite the level of intimacy presented at times, it is definitely an art piece which is to be appreciated by all audiences, be it a casual viewer, a photographer or an art lover.
