The value in this book is that from the outset, it emphasises that companies must be broader minded in their approach to business. In this time of rapid and constant change, this rule is number one! It was fascinating to read about so-called whacky companies and the radical approaches that they adopted to business. You would think these companies were only found in America, but in fact the book demonstrates that they are everywhere. What's even more fascinating is how successful financially many of these companies are. One of the big lessons from this book is that to stay ahead of the pack, you have to offer something different - whether it be your product/service, or how you deliver it. I guess a number of managers will find the ideas in this book extreme. But if you are on a long flight, this is better business reading than most I've come across!
