This is ALMOST a straight reissue of their earlier "Cornology" 3 CD set which covered all five of the band's albums (if you discount the recent offerings from the "re-formed" band), and a few bits and pieces to pad out the third disc.

However, the tracks have all been remastered, and the difference is quite clear. The new versions sound clearer and a little louder. In addition, the tracks on the third CD have been re-ordered, so that their final album comes first on the disc, followed by the extras, unlike "Cornology", where it was placed rather incongruously midway through the disc.

As you probably know, the music is just tremendous. This set contains many of the funniest, most ridiculous songs you are ever likely to hear, anywhere. "Jollity Farm", "Hunting Tigers Out In Indiah", "The Intro and the Outro", "Mr Slater's Parrot", "Mr Apollo", "Canyons Of Your Mind" - all are wildly different, yet I would defy anyone to sit straight-faced through any one of them. Listen once to the sheer genius of Viv Stanshall, Neil Innes, et al, and you'll be hooked. Note also the excellent musicianship - this wasn't just a bunch of fools mucking about; these guys could really play, and some of their own compositions are rather fine pieces of music in their own right.

It's a pity EMI couldn't have come to an arrangement with the BBC for some of the few Bonzos tracks not included here, but get this and "The Complete BBC Recordings", and you'll have all you need from the funniest band of all time.

Many years ago I'd had 'History of the Bonzos' on vinyl, and looking for a CD replacement, I think this set beats the History hands down. Being the actual albums with their original running order, this puts each track in context much better than 'History', and enables the listener to follow the development of the band over the period of these albums. All the favorites are here, along with other tracks I'd not previously heard, and my kids are now being introduced to what is still some of the funniest and irreverent music ever made! Although 40-odd years old, these tracks are still as fresh and amusing as evr they were (OK, maybe some of the band members introduced in 'The Intro & The Outro' are no longer the household names that they were at the time, but......!). If you want to add the Bonzos to your CD library, this is the one for you!!

The 72 track "A Dog's Life" (title chosen by Neil Innes) brings together five original studio albums and adds a few `extra treats'! The albums in question are included in their 2007 remastered form and are, chronologically, "Gorilla", "The Doughnut In Granny's Greenhouse", "Tadpoles", "Keynsham" and "Let's Make Up And Be Friendly".

CD3 adds an additional nine non-album tracks - six by the band, along with `Labio Dental Fricative' by Vivian Stanshall Sean Head Showband (featuring Eric Clapton), `Re-Cycled Vinyl Blues' by Neil Innes, and Roger Ruskin Spear & His Giant Orchestral Wardrobe with `Trouser Freak'.

The CDs are housed in a thick double plastic jewel case and come with a 12 page booklet. There are no sleeve notes, but it contains images of the original album covers, credits and several photographs.

This is another value for money addition to EMI's multi-album 3 / 4CD set range.
