Book Description

15 Sep 2008 1843106515 978-1843106517
"All Dogs Have ADHD" takes an inspiring and affectionate look at Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), using images and ideas from the canine world to explore a variety of traits that will be instantly recognisable to those who are familiar with ADHD. Following the style of the award-winning "All Cats Have Asperger Syndrome", charming colour photographs of dogs bring to life familiar ADHD characteristics such as being restless and excitable, getting easily distracted, and acting on impulse. This delightful book combines humour with understanding to reflect the difficulties and joys of raising a child with ADHD and celebrates what it means to be considered 'different'. This absorbing and enjoyable book takes a refreshing approach to understanding ADHD.

4.0 out of 5 stars Lovely book to read and look at. 12 Oct 2009
Format:Hardcover|Amazon Verified Purchase
My son is 5 and autistic with ADHD. We love this book with the large, colourful and fun dog photos with short, bold, ADHD related statements on each page. This book explains alot of my sons behaviour that I sometimes put down to just autism. We look at this book often, my son likes this as a bedtime story. The underlying message from this book, is that its good to be different.

Just to add that this book is very basic, if you want to know lots about ADHD, dont buy this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Book 16 July 2011
Format:Hardcover
Great book. I use it in my work with families, helps them understand ADHD a little more, in a way that can be easily understood and related too. Lovely photos and text.

5.0 out of 5 stars A brilliant book! 22 Feb 2011
Format:Hardcover
This book is absolutely amazing. With so many negative things written about ADHD it is wonderful to find a book that explains the condition to children (and adults?) in such a brilliant way. ADHD is a complex condition with a wide range of effects, both positives and difficulties and it can be really hard to deal with these sensitively. This book uses very amusing illustrations to highlight the issues surrounding ADHD to children very effectively. It also names famous people who have achieved great things, because of the condition. The dogs in the book are absolutely delightful and can't fail to engage, even if you are not a 'dog' person!
I have used it with many children in school who have been diagnosed recently and it has never failed to raise a smile and answer questions! I would highly recommend this to parents of children with ADHD and would like to see a copy in every school in Britain!
