Book Description

Mysterious goings-on in this enthralling romantic page-turner, from three big names in US romance

Product Description

When three women meet at a ‘Kammani-Gula Dog Obedience’ class, little do they know what they are walking into… Abby has just arrived in Summerville, Ohio, with her placid Newfoundland, Bowser, and is soon brewing up trouble in the form of magical baked goods in her grandmother’s coffee shop, while Daisy (with her hyperactive Jack Russell, Bailey) discovers the chaos within when she meets a mysterious dog trainer. Finally Shar, professor of ancient history at Summerville College, wakes up one morning to find her neurotic dachshund, Wolfie, snarling at an implacable god sitting at her kitchen table. What on earth is going on in this unearthly little town? It’s up to Abby, Daisy and Shar to find out…

2.0 out of 5 stars A Disappointment from Jennifer Crusie 12 July 2010
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
This book was recommended to me by Amazon and I decided to buy it as it had such good reviews. however, it was a big disappointment. It's not the usual type of Jennifer Crusie book - it must be because its mythical based which just didn't do it for me. I was glad to get to the end of it and its now waiting to go to the charity shop.

I'll be sticking to her funny romance type books in the future.

4.0 out of 5 stars Summer Read - a bit of good fun 28 Feb 2011
I don't actually read much romantic fiction at all and picked this up at the library on a whim. Unlike one of the reviewers, it was the pseudo-mesopatamian gods bit that caught my attention really. This is no deep read, just a bit of light fun. The characters, including the dogs, are the same, not deep but fun. It all comes to a nice satisfying conclusion. It's also great to have the nearly 50 year old get the best guy. And only a fictional god could be so perfect: body, sex, sensitive, responsible and fun too -- anyone like that who also likes Big Trouble in Little China certainly gets my vote. Sometimes a bit of happy fluff is good for you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Why play - it's 5 stars! 22 April 2009

Absolutely loved this book - it was a real page turner. I am a big Jennifer C fan and this book does not disappoint. Like the previous reviewer, I couldn't tell which author wrote which element of the book. This is a great collaboration.

A book of intrigue, mystery, magic and romance. Oh yeah and talking dogs...if you want to know more buy the book - you will not regret it.

A big thumbs up from me.

3.0 out of 5 stars Only ok 8 May 2013

I'm a huge jennifer crusie fan, but this book was not her best. I have liked her other collaborations, but found the characters in this books a little flat and the storyline too far fetched. As I wasn't routing for any of the characters it wasn't really a page turner. For me the best written characters were the dogs....

Worth reading if you are a big fan and you are willing to suspend disbelief completely.
