Product Description
Suitable for dog owners, this title sounds a warning about the increasing danger of commercial pet food substances, and advocates diets designed for pet health rather than corporate profits. It encourages a return to the natural dog diet of raw prey carcasses when practical, whilst recognising the need for other healthy food options.
About the Author
Helena Paton-Ayre is an art historian, graphic designer and experimental chef. Her first cookery book project, 101 Dalmatian Recipes, was abandoned when it became clear that nobody else knows where Dalmatia is. Her second book, Dinner with Rover, emerged as a result of her rescued dog Rambo's hysterical excitement when she cooked treats for him, and the book's depth increased when she read the chemical contents list of commercial dog food properly and decided not to feed it to her best friend any more. Close consultation with veterinary expertise adds technical authority to Dinner with Rover. Iain Paton-Ayre has written ten motoring books and around 1000 magazine articles, after a career in healthcare advertising at a time when ethics still mattered. This experience gave him a nose for corporate marketing lies, and his nose twitched violently when researching commercial pet food for Helena's previous book. Iain's research for Dinner with Rover revealed many reasons why dog food needs to be made in your kitchen where you can see what goes into it.
