I defy anyone who buys this to listen to the second song and not collapse in a heap of giggles on the floor.
This is very much a Rock album, and the musicians they have used are fabulous. My kids and I disagree about this. I prefer the excellent music, especially the noticeable lack of synthetic instruments, but it is slightly less silly as a result. With the exception of the second song, of course. But Boynton's creativity clearly knows no bounds, and the lyrical content is just wonderful. As a mum, I can happily say that, like all the Boynton/Ford books, these are ones I can listen to again and again without getting fed up of kiddie music.

We have three of Sandra Boynton's wonderful Book/Cd collections, Rhinocerous Tap, Philidelphia Chickens and this one, Dog Train. I think Rhinocerous Tap is our favourite but Dog train is still a wonderful way to spend time with your kids, especially on long car journeys as the songs make everyone smile and sing along and the kids love the irristible pictures in the book to go along with them. Charming and witty and SO much better than the usual bland collections of Nursery Rhymes and kids songs... try it for yourself and see!

We only got this a week ago but have listened to it every day - my children (6 and 3) adore it and we grown-ups do too. Well-written music, witty lyrics, wonderfully bizarre (but good!) singers - yes that really is Kate Winslett with Weird Al Yankovic singing "I need a nap". Loads of fun. Highly recommended!
