Book Description

Wondering what your dog is trying to tell you?

Dogs, like humans, are social creatures. Social groups get along by using both a spoken and unspoken language. For instance, we know that if someone is frowning, has a wrinkled forehead and narrowed eyes, that person is not happy.

Canines have the same type of unspoken language. Any social group must develop this body language as a way of ensuring that day to day life runs smoothly.

Dogs use their body language to express themselves. Learning to understand what your dog is “saying” will enable you to better understand the emotional state of your dog, thus preventing unnecessary stress to your dog and often preventing a bite or a fight.

In this new book by acclaimed dog author Sophie Miller, you'll learn...

-- The tell-tale signs of a potentially dangerous dog... and when never to approach.

-- What the "whale eye" in dogs means and why it's important

-- What to do if you find yourself face to face with an aggressive dog. This one tip could very well prevent a bite!

Basic rubbish,no psychological detail, and over priced. At the end it's adverts for training your dog,so an overpriced advert then,in the guise of a reference book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Has good information and is also helpful to non-dog owners who come across unfamiliar dogs in public 27 Jan. 2013

I bought this book along with another book on pugs for my teenage son who will be having his first dog at his dad's house. We have never owned a dog in our home so I felt it would be beneficial for him to read up on dog ownership for when he is at his dad's house. This book was a useful tool in helping us to understand dog's and their body language.I found it useful myself as someone who has never been a pet owner. I know more about dog's behavior and body language which is very helpful when I go for walks and come across dogs who often are not on leashes. The book is a very quick read, but informative nonetheless.

Liked the book, but it was too short! Wished the author went a little more in depth and expanded content. Other than that, the book was well written and informative.
