Like a lot of people I discovered Chairlift when their song 'Bruises' was used on an ipod advert. I laid my hands on a promo copy of the album by chance while working for a media company. Anyway, this record is absolutely brilliant, there's so more to them than what you get from 'Bruises', which is ace anyway. Some of it's totally random, like 'Planet Health', and others are stupidly infectious, like 'Evident Utensil'. But it's all great, a kind of mix of lo-fi pop and folk. The only thing I can advise is that you buy this album!

I don't watch TV and I don't listen to the radio so I don't know all the fuss about bruises. I picked up this album in a charity shop and was impressed by the contents of the album as a whole. I actually dislike Bruises - too simple and plain. But it's a good album. It's the sort of CD I'll put on from start to finish and sits nicely in the background but it can be engaging too. Very eclectic and nicely inventive. I really like 'Le flying saucer hat' which is good fun. It sounds to me like they like their French music too. I get hints of Air from some of harmonies and arrangements - but only in places.
Most of all, this album is worth it for the last two tracks on this album which are sublime - especially Chameleon Closet.
Overall very good. I recommend this album.

You may recognize one the song "Bruises" (I Tried to Do Handstands for You) from this album that was featured in an Apple iPod Nano advert. This is a great debut album from a up and coming band, there are other great songs of this album, but Bruises is a personal favourite!

Nothing compared to their second album, "Something". There are a few good songs and my opinion improved after a few listens, but still it's not one of my favourites. Read more

pretty good
bruises and evident utensil are the 2 stand out tracks. a couple of mediocre offerings on the album too, hence the 4 star rating but all in all a pretty good and likeable... Read more

Can across this band as a result of the ipod advertisment. Interesting album and mix of stsyles. Well worth a listen.
