Book Description

In the back of my rough book I wrote a list of hurdles I needed to overcome in order to meet Luke and some of his friends in town for an almost-date type situation. Writing the list had the added advantage of making me look really busy and productive in the lesson.

1. Get Poppy to invite Jez.
2. Phone Luke (ignoring obvious further hurdle of family listening in while I talk on landline).
3. Possibly clarify to Luke who I am.
4. Present compelling reasons as to why Luke would want to agree to the above, along with his friends, whom I've never met.

Meet Holly Stockwell, fourteen. She hates all forms of exercise, gets tongue-tied around boys, and her best friend, Poppy, seems to be developing a new best friend - the rich and gorgeous Claudia! Can she overcome these traumas without life getting any worse?

5.0 out of 5 stars FANTASTIC - I know how she feels!!!!, 18 Aug 2005
By A Customer
This review is from: Does Snogging Count as Exercise? (Paperback)
Oh my God, I read this book and Holly and Poppy are just like me and my friends. Good to hear that I'm not the only one with incredibly nosey parents and a very frustrating love life. It was so funny to hear all the stuff that they got up to, especially when the postcard Holly had written to Luke as a joke got sent without her knowing. HOW EMBARRASSING!!!!! Now, I want to know what happens when they go on holiday. Please tell me there's a sequel.......

5.0 out of 5 stars Hurrah for Holly, 18 Aug 2005
By A Customer
This review is from: Does Snogging Count as Exercise? (Paperback)
This book made me snort with laughter all the way from Edinburgh to London on the train. A new lively, witty, hilarious and perceptive writer has arrived on the teenage book scene! Holly is a fabulous character, very funny (but totally unaware of it), full of insecurities but determined to make the best of things - in fact exactly the sort of person you'd like to have as your best friend. And so you're completely rooting for her all the way through the story - it's just like sitting on her bed, biting your nails with her... Fantastic. Go buy this book NOW.

5.0 out of 5 stars I love Holly!, 31 July 2006

This review is from: Does Snogging Count as Exercise? (Paperback)
Wow, what a find! I picked up this book on recommendation from a friend and I couldn't put it down. Holly is the sort of girl that every teenager can relate to. From trying to look glam on the school bus to embarassing attempts at being cool in front of the gorgeous Luke, I was cringing with recognition - I'VE BEEN THERE!! What a relief to know we're all a bit the same and being a teenager is NOT easy. Holly is effortlessly funny and I chuckled through this in about 3 days flat. Now Holly and Luke are part of my life, I have to know what happens next. Please can we have a sequel? Pretty please...?
