I bought this book as my aunt had used it for her RA, she was bed ridden alot as the joints in her feet and hands were effected. The book worked for her as she now plays the piano and has joined ramblers! If I'd just read about someone saying this I probably wouldn't have believed them but as I actually knew someone that it had worked for I thought it was worth looking into. I flicked through all the case histories as they didn't interest me and it was like giving a hard sell for the book, so I went straight to the relevent info. There were a few things I didn't follow in the diet which was eating raw meat especially liver! also I still have oats for breakfast. With my RA it would suddenly flare up for about a month and then calm down again for a few months before coming back again. It took about a year to notice it was having an effect and during the second year I didn't get an attack. I have noticed that some foods have a quick effect on me if I eat them, mainly fresh tomatoes (seem to be ok with sundried or cooked) and citrus fruits, which the book suggests trying out. It was very difficult to start with having to check labels on everything and to only eat fresh produce, but as I got used to the change it did become easier. Willpower is needed. I occasionally have a 'cheat day' now (3 years later) which includes wine and chocolate or a pud at a restaurant but as long as I don't over do it I'm ok. I have overdone it once by eating and drinking stuff I shouldn't daily over a week and I did get an attack, I'd forgotten how painful it can be! I will be a good girl from now on!! I think this book is worth trying as it has worked for me and my aunt. If you want to try a wheatfree bread that taste like the wheat one it has to be 'Genius' from some supermarkets (Tesco always has it). I have this once or twice a week now. It has alot less ingredients and extras added then other free from products.
