Biography

GAME went from Gangsta to great musician right before our eyes. He recharged legendary west coast captain Dr. Dre, delivering the producer’s last true Cali-themed classic in “The Documentary” and then took it upon himself to keep West Coast hip-hop relevant – #1 hit single, #1 album and $20 million-dollar film role at a time.

His official foray into Hip Hop, ... Read more in Amazon's The Game Store

4.0 out of 5 stars A fine second album 17 Jun 2007
Format:Audio CD
Without the backing of 50 Cent and G Unit, I was unsure what The Game could do as his "difficult second album".

On listening through though, "Doctor's Advocate" sees The Game making the sort of album that showcases him well. His background was always streetwise, his attitude is right and his lyrics are still thoughtful but now are much more mature and the overall musical style and tempo is more in keeping with his delivery than the more bombastic approach of G Unit.

The self-indulgence of certain parts of "The Documentary" - possibly due to the heavy influence of 50 and crew - is absent now, though his mixed feelings about the way things happened and the situation as it is now show through repeatedly in his lyrics - for instance, when he refers to "the aftermath of Aftermath" (the label of his first album) and later states he is sometimes tempted to call 50 and talk things over but feels he can't because of "the beef".

The Game has shown here that his style does stand up on its own. "Doctor's Advocate" shows that he can make his own way in the music world - with or without 50 Cent.

If you liked "Dreams" from the first album, and especially if you liked it more than "Hate It Or Love It", buy this album.

4.0 out of 5 stars West Coast Land Mark 4 1/2 Stars 10 Nov 2006
Format:Audio CD
Well, it certainly does live up to its expectations, even without Dre production. The songs are much more raw than the previous album which in my opinion, makes for better music. Although Dr.Dre is sadly missed on this LP, you get over it. Scott Storch has a very similar style of production to the great doctor so it still has the same feel. I won't go into great detail about the album, just to let you know that it's a great album, filled with great production and rhymes. One of the better albums of 2006.

From far, the best Hip Hop album so far this year. No doubt, no questions. You need a proof, check out the song "screem on em" produced by swizz beats and see how in just 1 year this campton rapper has grown from an average sounding mcee to a memorable hip hop icon. The production on this album is totally insane; you don't even miss Dr. Dre as much. The flow is wicked as hell. It seems as if his departure from Aftermath and G-unit has woken his hunger. The songs are so impressive that you wanna repeat them over and over. I skipped class to enjoy the whole album. The Doctor's advocate has just proved that The hommie Game is here to leave his mark. When you hear songs like "why you hare the Game?" or "doctor's advocate", then you know for sure that there is more to this man than just the noise surrounding his career. He can surely drink to the return of the mi ghty west coast and thanx to the Hurricane aka cocaine Game who just broke hip hop longest remix record with 23 artist on a 12 minute track for his street single "one blood" (it's ok). The Game shows no signs of rest; his cd release is directly followed by a tireless european tour. A nice way to give Hip Hop fans something to ride with. This album easily picked up where the multiplatinum Documentary left off and hang on to your seats, the ride is long and joyful.

4.0 out of 5 stars Missing the good Doctor? 6 Dec 2006
Format:Audio CD
...In an word - No.

This album is far more accomplished than The Documentary and much less "Pop". The album is straight fire and with the exception of a couple of tracks is great. If only the Game could stop name dropping in every song (seriously, put the nuts down). At least he's left the beef for the mixtapes. His voice is almost Chameleon like - He's sounds a lot like Dre on The Sh!t, he sounds like Swizz Beats on Scream on Em but this is no bad thing to be able to change a flow so convincingly.

I've got no doubt that had Dre been on board for this joint then it could have been better but the Game should definately be proud that he's managed to put out a quality album like this.

5.0 out of 5 stars CAN HE KICK IT ? YES HE CAN!! 18 Nov 2006
Format:Audio CD
I was lookin forward to this one for a long time and now it here all I can say is WOW Dude's hard work has wit out a doubt pays off trust me. In no way is this the documentry 2 but a classic in it own RIGHT. The Doctor's Advocate has some great tracks which have new era of west coast feel to em along wit other production which is of good standards also, all of which adds way more than just flavor but provides a next type of style.

On each track game provides that next level rap from spitting fire on tracks like remedy too providing good subject matter on tracks like Doctor's Advocate and on other tracks displays some off tha hook rap skill which has ya like yeah!

Over all the Doctor's Advocate is an A-Class type Album! can't imagine any one not feelin this one. It one of the best albums I've ever heard, well worth tha money!

This album is wicked !!!

i think its more 'the game' than 'lets bring the westcoast back' like his first album im not sayin the documentry wasnt any good cos that was a really good album but i think for game to leave Dre and go alone its wicked its not all about BLOODS n CRIPS this time its quite sentimental 4 a rapper anyway well worth the money.
