Product Description

The Doctor (Patrick Troughton) and Jamie arrive at space station J7 to ask the Doctor's old friend Dastari to cease his experiments in time travel. The station is invaded, and when Doctor number 6 (Colin Baker) and Peri arrive, they find a shell-shocked Jamie claiming that the Doctor has been killed. It is in fact all part of a Sontaran plot to discover the secrets of time travel, which necessitates a trip to Seville to rescue the earlier incarnation of the Time Lord. Patrick Troughton's last appearance as the Doctor.

Always being a fan of when one reincarnation of the Doctor meets another, and being a fan of Colin Baker, I found this particular episode too tempting to miss. The story opens with Patrick Troughton and companion Jamie reasoning with a professor calling himself Distari - a man hell-bent on cracking the secrets of time travel for himself. There is a raid by persons unknown and the last thing Jamie sees is the Doctor being tortured to death in a giant container.

As this happens, the Doctor (Colin Baker) suddenly collapses in the Tardis, feeling himself weaken. The Doctor and Peri must find out what is happening before it is too late for the Doctor(s).

Set in a variety of locations ranging from a space station to Spain (believe it or not), this adventure plods along at a fair pace, sometimes good in places (the ravenous and moderately scary Shockeye o' the Quancing Grig is good for a while but I wish he'd shut up about food!) and an appearance by the Sontarans, and especially when the two Doctors come face to face, but sometimes it drags on with over-acting (particularly guilty candidates are Mr. Baker and Shockeye) and the odd tongue-in-cheek relief of the moth-collecting restaurant-owning Owen. The storyline is fairly good, with the odd twist, and plenty of double-crossing and double-double-crossing going on between the various bad guys.

All in all this particular adventure is fine for Doctor Who fans, just not one of the better ones.

A grand collection of colourful new adversaries and old enemies (the Sontarans ) for Patrick Troughton and Colin Baker to contend with, being both highly flamboyant Doctors themselves, who confront the fanatical Chesene on her quest for the power of time travel. A variety of settings from Space laboratories to Seville, Spain. Thouroughly enjoyable over and over again.
