3.0 out of 5 stars Entertaining and simple but an odd premise 7 Oct 2009
Format:Hardcover
This is a fairly good book, with plenty of action, locations that are quite simple and easy to visualise, a limited group of characters making it easier to follow the action, and an intriguing mystery that only gets explained fully at the end. I felt a bit let down by the basic premise, that a planet has sentience. It became an accepted premise that led to the action, but was never really explained, but if you suspend your imagination about that, it was a good adventure.

Format:Audio CD
The Last Dodo: is at last a great story from Jaci Rayner, and is thoroughly enjoyable and has a new fresh setting and imaginative twists and turns all along the way. I do have just the book of this, and even thought he book is the full story, theres just something about listening to Freema Agyeman reading this story that makes this book and even bigger hit. I think she has such a great speaking voice, so soft and easy to hear, not over the top with different voices. Shes great. She should have done the lot of these three stories with Martha in my opinion, but at least she did one. Thats better than nothing! A brilliant buy. And for once the bits left out on the audio arent the essential bits anyway, so its no real loss. In fact, as i said, with Freema its a big gain...
