Have been circling these Paul Magrs stories for a while. Had never found the concepts
as described in reviews all that interesting. Mike Yates with the 4th Doctor? Odd pairing.
The stories seem to be like the ones you'd find in old Doctor Who annuals which had
little resemblance to the TV show's output of the time. So I got this box set and I thought
I was listening to some Radio 4 afternoon drama which happened to have a character
in it called the Doctor. Considering these Paul Magrs scripts were the first ones to
bring Tom back, they lack any sort of real danger and aggression to them. Fair enough,
it's nice to try new things but the whole thing has a slightly dreary quality to it. The music
and lack of sound effects add to the slog. I have to say they do tick along nicely but
just the tone is a bit too subdued and feels like a very dated approach to science fiction.
I primarily bought the set because of the 2nd Doctor's appearance which is quite good
but everyone seems to sit around having tea and eating dinner. Weird. I'm curious
to know what Magrs' thinking was behind the whole concept.

Another great story with Tom Baker buying the complete set is a great bonus as you have the story all together and sometimes not so easy to get all parts when separate .The box set is compact and the audio is excellent .Doctor Who fans will love this and getting the audio version is good as you can listen to it where ever you go .
