Product Description

The Doctor returns, alongside newly weds Amy and Rory, to face monsters and mysteries and adventures all across time and space, in a thrilling new series of Doctor Who. Together they’ll find themselves in sixties America, battling the invasion the world forgot, then journey on the high seas of 1696 aboard a pirate ship, to solve the mystery of the Siren. In a bubble universe at the very edge of reality, the Doctor will meet an old friend with a new face, and in a monastery on a remote island in the near future, an industrial accident will take on a terrible human shape. And waiting for them, at the end of all this, is the battle of Demon’s Run, and the Doctor’s darkest hour. Can even the truth about River Song save the Time Lord’s soul?

Only two things are certain. Silence will fall. And a good man is going to die…

5.0 out of 5 stars Best British series ever. 6 Jun 2011
By Mr. R. W. Graham VINE™ VOICE
I've loved Doctor Who ever since i was a kid and Tom Baker was my Doctor growing up and was ecstatic when they brought the series back with Christopher Eccleston as The Doctor in 2005. Doctor Who has always been for me the most imaginative British tv show ever made as you can do practically anything with the format. Splitting the series up into 2 parts for the current run i wasn't in favour of but at least it's ended on one heck of a cliffhanger. The half a season as it is here is very entertaining stuff, starting off with the epic 2 part American adventure, The Impossible Astronaut and The Day Of The Moon, which features new alien baddies The Silence, who are up there with The Weeping Angels as the best monsters that the new series has created and are one of the best monsters ever in Doctor Who's long history. The opening 2 parter is great fun and an instant classic, setting up the rest of the series. Following episode The Curse Of The Black Spot is perhaps the weakest of the episodes here but is still a good fun romp onboard a pirate ship. Next up, The Doctor's Wife, a very enjoyable episode set on a planet of junk and then we get to the 2 part story The Rebel Flesh and The Almost People which starts off slowly but soon builds into a very enjoyable 2 parter about cloning and finally we reach the mid season finale, A Good Man Goes To War, which is now one of my favourite Doctor Who episodes ever and the best in the series so far. An epic adventure where The Doctor gathers an army to look for the Kidnapped Amy and ends on a truly great cliffhanger with an excellent twist about the excellent River Song. This is great entertainment and i can't wait for the rest of the season. Only complaint i've really got is that they seem to keep killing or trying to kill poor Rory ever other week. He's turning into Doctor Who's version of Kenny from South Park!!

Well, A Good Man Goes to War broadcast this weekend and it was...well it was pretty good to be honest. And this is from someone who hated series 5. It had to be the worst series of Doctor Who yet with the awful dalek episode, poorly thought out dialogue, that boring silurian two parter (although the finale was beautiful as were the angels)...Anyway, I thought I'd lost faith. Then Series 6 came along. The opening two parter has scale, it has size, brilliant effects, an fascinating set up and some of the best direction with the series feeling slick and frankly quite epic. 10/10 for both. THen the pirates...well we'll leave those out. Average at best in fact pretty poor...but it's the only low point and to be honest quite enjoyable on a rainy day, no where near as poor as some others. 6/10 Then The Doctor's Wife..WOW! Just WOW! An instant classic to rival many. Another 10/10. The flesh two parter, again hugely enjoyable despite the opening few minutes but once gotten into, a great set up, chilling story and a satisfying ending to another great two episodes with the BEST cliffhanger EVER! 8/10 for the Rebel Flesh, 9/10 for the Almost People. And then the mid- season finale. Once more, Moffat does it again. Truly epic, again it had scale and some great characters namely Madame Vastra and Jenny, deserve their own spin off really, some brillint jokes and effects will some tear jerking moments, especially when Rory enters with the Melody in his hands. 10/10 Loved Rory's development and the Sontaran nurse/warrior references in relation to him, and also Amy's likable....like really likable...not the whiny, annoying bitch from the previous series. Matt...well do we need to talk about Matt...best Doctor by a mile. Where did this come from?! It's amazing! Really stunning television.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great, thrilling Half-Series! 5 Jun 2011
These first 7 episodes have been a fantastic set to the Doctor Who franchise. The clever, exciting storylines which tie together and fantastic and thrilling to watch as a viewer. The acting levels of all the actors have increased from last series and lose storylines have tied together and also only just begun ;) Not to give away any spoilers but this will certainly satisfy you in the many questions you have been asking for the past series'! Great part 1, bring on part! :D
