Product Description

Video Description
A strange signal from Earth draws the TARDIS to the island of Lanzarotte. While the Doctor tries to track the source of the signal, his companion Turlough rescues a young American girl, Peri, from drowning. She carries an artefact made from platinum carrying a strange symbol - and it is a symbol that Turlough himself carries on his arm, branded into the flesh...

The signalling artefact leads them all to the planet Sarn, a world ravaged by volcanoes and holding the secret of eternal life. But an old foe of the Doctor's is desperate for this elixir, and will stop at nothing to gain it. What is Turlough's link to the artefact? What is the nature of Sarn's mythical god, Logar? What is the secret of the ruined spaceship crashed on a mountainside? And will anyone escape the planet of fire with their lives?

Synopsis
The Doctor, his companion Turlough and an American girl named Peri, are all being led, on the TARDIS, to the planet Sarn, a place where the secret of eternal life is held...

4.0 out of 5 stars nice story with the master, 23 Dec 2000
Enjoyable Davison story, some nice twists, including the master and his tardis, and first story with companion Peri. a Worthwile video.

4.0 out of 5 stars Who's a lucky Doctor then?, 5 Nov 2000
Peter Davison's second to last story saw the exit of Turlough and the first appearance of Peri (surely the series' sexiest companion). It doesn't have one of the strongest storylines but in hindsight you feel sad that Davison is going (to be replaced by Colin Baker, who never got close to adequately replacing him). Doctor Who never recovered from Davison's departure, despite the quality of the Colin Baker storylines. I was a teenage lad when this was on TV so you won't be surprised to know that it was Nicola Bryant who got my attention.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Example Of The Peter Davison Era, 14 Aug 2000
By A Customer
Very good...very good..indeed. If your a fan you will already own this video. But this is a video that more casual viewers might enjoy. The master is up to his old tricks again.New Companion Peri is introduced in this one.Corrrr! You might find that after a while your tape gets worn out at a certain point.I know mine has.All in all, Not bad.Worth it for part one alone. Man Painted silver is a bit rubbish though. I think there should be a'Star Wars'style remasterd special edition dvd of this title. With special extra footage of Nicola Bryant. Buy This.
