Ooooh, the packaging. *mourns*
It was so painful to take apart the beautiful packaging.
Still! It's the product we're here to review, right?
Well~. The packaging says 5+ but I doubt there's a kid out there who's watched enough classic Who or cares enough to want it. It seems a bit silly, therefore, that the Screwdriver (whilst still being a great likeness) has been made a bit childproof (in that the bullet-shape in the head of the Sonic Screwdriver is much nubbier than I remember the prop being). It does, however, explain how easy-to-break the head of the screwdriver is. It is really flimsy and a sharp impact or carefree child could easily and accidentally snap it off (the instruction sheet also warns you to be careful of snapping it this way). The paint is easily scratched, too.
The two (yeah, there's only two) soundeffects the Sonic Screwdriver emits are the same ones made by the Eccleston/Tennant model, which I can't say I've heard this version making (although I've heard Baker's screwdriver make the noise, so I suppose it works). I was a little disappointed that it didn't make that old "Blip-a-ba-boop" noise but it's still fun to use.
So all-in-all, a fun little replica of the second model of Sonic Screwdriver~. Could have been better, but it's good as it is.
