Too little content 21 Jun 2010
By Gilles
Format:Hardcover
In the "Doctor Who : The Episode Guide" each episode is described in one sentence, summarily rated as good or not, and that's about it.

If you are looking for a simple (but complete) bullet point list of Doctor Who episodes, this is a book for you. If you wish for a minimum of content and/or narrative, look elsewhere.

For any casual Doctor Who fan this book is an invaluable reference guide. Slightly bigger in size than a DVD. It summarises (in one sentence) every story from William Hartnell's first to David Tennant's last story.

It also gives basic information like who wrote the story, and who the companion was, actor details etc. Also details of film locations.

The author gives his verdict (in paragraph) on each story giving it a mark out of ten.

It also has a chapter on the missing episodes, audio books, novels and spin-offs. Also websites. This information is basic but useful.

To get every DVD/VHS tape will cost an absolute fortune. The biggest selling point of this book is it tells whether a story is any good or not. Worthwhile if you're on a tight budget.

I've used this book cross-referencing with what's on Amazon. After going through this book I've picked up Terror of the Autons (rated 8)+ Invasion Of The Dinosaurs (rated 10) both on VHS. I've earmarked quite a few others including Seeds of Doom (rated 10) which is only on VHS at the moment but will be released on dvd later in 2010.

All in all this would be an inexpensive addition to your collection. I have no hesitation in recommending this book to any Doctor Who fan.
