5.0 out of 5 stars Daemonic, 19 April 2009

This Jon Pertwee story is often hailed as definitive early 70s Who and a firm fan favourite. With The Master up to his nefarious tricks - this time allying himself with a stranded alien resembling The Devil - a BBC3 (how prescient was that?!) TV crew filming the entrance of a potty archaeologist into an ancient barrow, a bonkers white witch, and an animated gargoyle battling it out with UNIT, this story has everything. Oh, and it's also got Morris Dancers!
Inspired, darkly funny, and thoroughly enjoyable; this is one you have to see.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very dark and very good, 14 Sep 2007

(TOP 100 REVIEWER)    (REAL NAME)
This is the best Jon Pertwee Doctor Who series you can can buy. Some of the special effects look dated now, but the brooding atmosphere and demonic creatures left an indelible mark on me as a 10 year old. Another reason for its excellence was one of the earliest appearances of the Master, who was marvellously played by Roger Delgado.

Sadly this still isn't available on DVD. However when it is eventually released it will hopefully include a documentary that was made in the early 1990's when the cast revisted the location the series was filmed at.
If you can get the video at a decent price its definetly worth getting, but I'm waiting for the DVD which will undoubtably be remastered and include the usual quota of commentaries and extras.
